Show SOCIETY NBVS Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Crandall were holiday guests of their daughter and family Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Thorstensen at Ogden. Announcement is made of the marriage of La Von Payne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Payne of this city to Miss Amanda Jones of Provo which took place Saturday at the home of the groom's parents with A. G. Thorn officiating. Mrs. Rhoda Hatfield, Mrs. B. Glazier, and Miss Gene Neill were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Ann Mendenhall, Miss Velma Menden-jball Menden-jball and Miss Pauline Clyde ?t the home of the latter. : ' I Miss Mary Huntington entertained enter-tained a group of friends at her home New Years eve. They played "Monte Carlo" whist, had lunch and later chaperoned by Mrs. Huntington attended the midnight preview. In attendance were, Delia Baxter, Naomi Pierce, Pauline Clyde, Gene Neill, Grace Hilton of Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thorn entertained en-tertained members of the Tayu alumni, former high school social unit, and their partners, at their home Saturday night. During bridge prizes were won by Mell Haymond and Mrs. Vadal Child. Lunch was served to Mr. and Mrs. Haymond, Mr. and Mrs. Childs, Mr. and Mrs. Carlisle Crandall, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Haymond, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Starr. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Whiting left the past week for New York City where they will spend about two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Whiting and baby. Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Thorn and Mr. and Mrs. John Whiting left the past week on a two-weeks vacation trip to California. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Johnson and family have returned to Richfield, Rich-field, Idaho after several days' visit here. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. The guests enjoyed supper, early in the evening at Keeleys and later assembled at the Clyde home where progressive games were played. Prizes were won by Mrs. H. M. The Boosters club members were entertained last Wednesday night at the home of Miss Pauline Clyde. A dinner was served first, afterwhich the girls enjoyed coasting. coast-ing. Lew Boyer of St. Louis, Mo., spent several days of this week with his mother, Mrs. C. A. Boyer in this city. Mrs. Myron Childs assisted by . Progressive "cootie" featured the entertainment with prizes won by Grant Thorn and Mrs. Mervin Wright. Lunch was served to Mr. and Mrs. Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Haymond, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thorn, Mr. and Mrs. Mell Haymond, Mr. and Mrs. Art Hughes and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Par-cell Par-cell of Provo and the hosts and hostesses. Mrs. D. B. Welch was hostess to the Home Culture club at their annual Christmas party. A delicious delic-ious dinner was served at 1:30 p. m. with covers laid for eighteen members. Miss Sophia Packard gave an interesting paper on "The Holy Land," and gifts were exchanged ex-changed among those present. Entre Nou club members and their partners entertained at a progressive party New Year's eve. Later they attended the dance afterwhich they assembled at the home jf Dr. and Mrs. V. M. Sevy. In attendance were Dr. and Mrs. L. E; Otteson, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Claudin, Mr .and Mrs. Ronald Thorpe, Mr., and Mrs. Howard Thorpe, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hales, Dr. and Mrs. Sevy, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Conover and Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Coffman, the latter being guests. Miss Lela Bird of Los Angeles, Calif., who is visiting friends and relatives - here and at Mapleton was a guast of Dr. and Mrs. L. E. Otteson last week.
