Show CELEBRATE 52ND WEDDING ':, Mr. and Mrs. George L. Mell Me-ll Kenzie, well known residents of this city, celebrated their fifty-f fifty-f second wedding anniversary on j New Year's day. They were mar-I mar-I ried in Provo, January 1, 1883. In f April of that year they moved in-I in-I to their present home and have lived there since. Mr. McKenzie was born in Springville August 25, 1858, a son of George and Elizabeth Wood McKenzie. During his earlier years he followed the occupation of freighting and also engaged in raildoad construction work. Later he became intersted in the mer- chandise business and dairying, i He has always been active in ! L. D. S. church work, serving as Sunday school superintendent and a member of the Third ward Bishopric for a number of years. He filled a mission to Virginia in 1902. Mrs. McKenzie was born here, December 6, 1858. Her parents were William and Christa Ann Alleman Sumsion. She was an officer of-ficer in the first Retrenchment society so-ciety which later became the M. I. A. Mrs. McKenzie also was President of the Third ward Relief society for 10 years. She hats served serv-ed as M. I .A. counselor and Sunday Sun-day school teacher. She also is an ardent temple worker. She is librarian for the Springville camp D. U. P. I Although the couple have had ! no children of their own they have made a home at various times for 10 children of their near relatives. Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie appear younger than their years and tu.ve a special interest in civic and church affairs. One of their chief interests is their garden, which is one of the most attractive in ! the city. |
