The guest of honor received many beautiful and useful gifts. The entertaining rooms were beauti fully decorated with Hallowe'en nyjtits and fall flowers were also used. Mrs. Lewis Bird has returned from Idaho, where she has spent the past few weeks. Among the nicely arranged parLies of the week was one given by the old relief society class leaders and officers for those just beginning- work as class leaders and officers this year, in the First ward. The party was held Friday night at were Mrs. Jeanne Richardson, Mrs. Roberta Green and Mrs. Eleanor Childs. Members present pres-ent included, Mrs. Madeiyn Des-pain. Des-pain. president who was in charge of the program, Mrs. Beth Jensen, Jen-sen, Mrs. Marie Whiting, Mrs. Mabel Wright, Mrs. True Clyde, Mrs. Edna Clyde, Mrs. Naomi Crandall, Mrs. Minnie Richards, Mrs. Florence Nielson, Mrs. Mau-rine Mau-rine Haymond, Mrs. Naomi Thorn and Mrs. Margaret Biackett. An enjoyable time was spent by members of Valley Circle when they were entertained at the home of Mrs. A. M. Lyall on Wednesday evening. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. C. D. Ryan, I Mrs. E. F. Perham, Mrs. C. A. Franks and Miss Ercell Clark of this city. After a business meeting, meet-ing, social chat, a program and delicious luncheon were enjoyed. Fall flowers formed attractive room decorations. In attendance were Mrs. J. N. Yeager, Mrs. J. C. Halherslehen Mrs. T. K. Phll- Finley Roylance and Miss Florence Flor-ence Hardy were among those from Sprmgville who attended the homecoming celebration at the U. S. A. C, in Logan on Saturday. Miss Katharine Tuttle has just returned from a delightful two weeks' visit in Los Angeles, Cal., where she was the guest of Mrs. Wyman Wills, (the former Katharine Kath-arine Dougall). She visited many places of interest, some of them being- Pasadena, Hollywood, Beverly Bev-erly Hills, Santa Monica, the Forest For-est Lawn Memorial in Giendale; j San Pedro, where she was the i fleet, and Long- Beach. business meeting after which Cecelia Ce-celia Maycock entertained with a reading. The evening's entertainment was concluded with the serving of refreshments. In attendance were about 16 members mem-bers and four alumni. Members of the Old Friends club were guests of Mrs. Blanch Tipton at her home last Friday evening. Prizes for the evening's entertainment of "500" went to Mrs. Thclma Cherrington, Mrs. Retta Kelley and Mrs. John Prior of Spanish Fork, a guest. Preceeding the games a tasty lunch was served to nine club members and three guests, the latter including- Mrs. Esther John-sen, John-sen, Mrs. Maude Curtis and Mrs. Prior of Spanish Fork. Ab Libitum club members held an entertaining affair in the form of a no hostess Hallowe'en party at the home of Mrs. Hortense Har-wood Har-wood on Monday evening-. Comic and unique costumes were exchanged ex-changed during the evening and the group spent a delightful time with social chat and a nicely arranged ar-ranged Hallowe'en lunch. Nine club members were in attendance. The next meeting is scheduled to be held on Monday, November 6, at the home of Miss Marie CI egg. Mrs. Taylor Burt had members mem-bers of the LaJolie club as her guests on Thursday night. Bridge featured the entertainment with prizes won by Mrs. Fay Hansen, Mrs. Lucille Smith and Mrs. Mar-va Mar-va Taylor, a guest. Others in at trial chat followed by a tasty lunch. Shurtliff of Schoficld, Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Weight and Bill Pennington. j On the occasion of his sixty-fourth sixty-fourth birthday Tuesday night, Arch Roylance was honored with a family party given at his heme, employed in room decorations and A Hallowe'en color scheme was during the luncheon which followed follow-ed a delightful evening of social chat. The entertaining rooms were decorated with black cats and witches. They enjoyed games dancing and refreshments after-which all attended the show at the Rivoli. The guest list included: in-cluded: Ann Whiting, Ruth Hardy, Norma Brockbank, Norma Weight, LaRae McPherson, ajne Huntington, Elizabeth Walker, Jane Cherrington, Kathleen Laney Bobby Martin, Rex Roylance, Robert Ro-bert Thorn, Dick Sumsion, Matt Robertson, Richard Wing, Wayne Ostlund and the hostess. Mrs. Blanch Tipton entertained entertain-ed at a party at her home on Saturday for her little son Dean who was six year old. A delightful delight-ful time was spent with games, a program and tasty lunch. In attendance at-tendance were about twenty little friends. Mrs. Tipton was assisted the home of Mrs. A. W. Cherrington. Cher-rington. A delightful feature of the entertainment was a review of the book, "Spring Came On Forever," by Mrs. Mae Huntington. Hunting-ton. A tasty lunch suggestive of Hallowe'en was served in conclusion con-clusion to approximately thirty Relief society workers. Members of the Ladies Literary Liter-ary club will be guests of Mrs. Jessie Dalton .at her home on Thursday evening, November 2, beginning at 7:30 o'clock. Plans are practically complete for the annual card party sponsored spon-sored by t'he American Legion auxiliary to be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 2 p. m., in Memorial hall. The games will begin promptly at 2 o'clock and lunch will follow. Prizes will be awarded award-ed to winners in progressive "500" contact and autcion bridge for "Rook." More than a hundred I are expected to attend. Tickets may be secured from any auxiliary auxil-iary member or at the door. Mrs. Lucille Childs was hostess to members of the Jeune Mere club at an especially entertaining meeting on Wednesday night, at her home. Mrs. Muriel Shriner gave a three-act play, "Death Takes a Holiday," and the Misses Johnson and Christensen from the high school entertained with instrumental in-strumental and vocal selections. Special guests at the meeting lips, Mrs. D. O. Bullock, Mrs. R. W. Thomas, Mrs. Veida Small, Mrs. H A Immisch, Mrs Victor Fliflit, Mrs. Ledger Free, Mrs. H. E. Ulrey, Mrs. W. H. Her home was beautiful with late autumn flowers and bridge tables were attractively decorated with Hallowe'en Hal-lowe'en motifs. Following a delicious de-licious luncheon cards were featured feat-ured with prizes won by Mrs. Hortense Harward, Mrs. Carrie , Jolley, Mrs. Madge Thorn was a special guest and the following members attended, Mrs. Dolly Smith, Mrs. Inez Chader, Mrs. j Norma Noe, Mrs. Biroie Thorpe, : Mrs. Gladys Averett, Mrs. Coe Packard, Mrs. Hortense Harward, Mrs. Carrie Jolley, Mrs. Helen Robbins, Mrs. Ann Johnson, and Mrs. Alice Ence. The high school Thespians held j a regular meeting and social on Wednesday evening at the high school art building. President Arnold Ar-nold Barney conducted a short tendance were, Mrs. Madge Crandall, Cran-dall, Mrs. Ruth Miller, Mrs. Nathalie Na-thalie Oakley, Mrs. Helen Spaf-ford, Spaf-ford, Mrs. Dona Whitney, Mrs. Harriet Miner, Mrs. Evelyn Boy-er, Boy-er, Mrs. Ruth Jones of Provo. - Mrs. Ellen Hogan of Salt Lake City spent a few days of this week with her daughter, Mrs. Willis Weight and family here. Mothers Study club members held an interesting meeting last Friday afternoon, at the home of Mrs. Nellie Burt. Mrs. Gene Pierce gave a fine paper on "The Safety Program," and W. W. Brockbank also spoke on 'Safety." Two piano selections were given by Miss Nadine Crandall and Miss Hannah Rowland entertained with vocal solos, acompanied by Mrs. Bell Thomas. Mrs. Catherine Sumsion Sum-sion was welcomed into the club by Miss Susie Prior of Spanish Fork. Dr. and Mrs. J. Mack Dougall have returned to their home following fol-lowing a three weeks visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dougall and Mrs. H. T. Reynolds in this city. Mrs. Owen McKenzie was in Salt Lake City Thursday to visit her son Howard prior to his leaving leav-ing to attend a convention at Philadelphia, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Hans C. Rig-trup Rig-trup of this city announce the engagement of their daughter, Marie, to Herbert Isom, son of Mrs. Minnie Campbell of Hurricane, Hurri-cane, the marriage to take place in the near future. They planned to visit friends at Cedaredge, Colo., and to visit their son Wilford Lyall and family at Del Norte, Colo. They will spend a short time in Las Vegas and Boulder dam, in Nevada, then will go to New Mexico and later will spend a short time at San Diego, and : San Francisco, Calif., returning by way of Reno, Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Kue'hl and children have returned from an enjoyable month's vacation trip to the east where they visited relatives and friends. during the afternoon. Guests included, Peggy Crandall, Barbara Olsen, Mary Palfreyman, Marilyn Roylance, Roy-lance, Kathleen Jackson,- Clark Davis, Vernon Harrington, Harold Smith, Rex Diamond, Dicky Crandall. Cran-dall. Mrs. Schwartz was assisted by Miss Florence Hardy. A group of relatives surprised Mrs. Josephine Pennington at her home Saturday night, with a Hallowe'en Hal-lowe'en party.
