Show . -tri Election Candidates Announce Platforms Springville's municipal campaign cam-paign got off to a fresh start this week as enndidates running for office on the two tickets announced announc-ed their platforms and general intentions. Voting will take place" on Tuesday, November 7, the polls being open from 7 a. m., until 7 p. m. Tuesday of this week ; was the last day of registration, and it is presumed by this time that everyone interested in city affairs have seen to 7t that their names are on the poll books. The sponsors of both the Independent Inde-pendent and the Citizen's tickets are promising the other side a hard fight for the positions listed and what looked like uninteresting prospects for the city election this year has developed into one of keen rivalry between groups. While in some communities election el-ection of city officials constitute another contest between the Democratic, De-mocratic, Republican and oftentimes often-times another party, this type of competition is not in evidence here as adherents of both parties par-ties are to be found on each of this year's list of candidates 1 office. i.ne independent ticket is running run-ning incumbent city officials for office, with a few changes made. Mayor A. O. Thorn who was elected elect-ed to office two years ago heads this party ticket again this year. -Emil Ostlund, former 2-ycar councilman, coun-cilman, whose term expires tills year, is the party's selection for 4-ycar councilman, with Ed Johnson, John-son, David Fricl former 2 year councilmen whose terms also expires ex-pires this year, and I. E. Clegg, who was named as 4-year councilman coun-cilman 4 years ago, have been placed on the ticket for 2-ycar councilmen. William Bringhurst who was elected to office six years ago is the party's choice for city recorder, re-corder, and Mrs. Eliza Russell who has also been an efficient treasurer treas-urer -for the past six vears, is limning for city treasurer. On the Citizens ticket are a group of new citizens so far as city offices are concerned but are well known throughout the community. com-munity. They are as follows: K. J. Boyer, for city mayor; Karl Allc-man, Allc-man, 4-ycar councilman; Fred Av-ei-ctt, V. B. Gogarty, John H. Hardy, 2-ycar councilman; Peter Nielsen, clly recorder and Martha Harrison, treasurer. |
