Show TWO ESCAPE STATE PRISON (BULLETIN) SALT LAKE CITY The prisoners were caught near the Hyrum Jensen home on Highland drive, about a mile from the state prison, late this afternoon. They were hiding in a clump of brushes when prison guards came upon up-on them. Neither of the prisoners pris-oners was injured according to the first report. SALT LAKE CITY, April 27 U.RI Two prisoners at the Utah State penitentiary escaped from the prison farm today. One of them was believed wounded when a guard fired at them as they were fleeing. Ed Ranshaw, 28, and Fred M. Rivers, 22, made their escape about 2 p. m. They were working work-ing with a group of prisoners on the farm in charge of guards J. A. Walton and P. R. Sorenson. Full details of the escape were lacking, since all available guards were dispatched to search for the two men, but Walton and Sorenson Soren-son reported' that one of the prisoners stumbled after they had fired a shot and they believed he Kvas wounded. |
