Show POPE IS HEAD OF UTAH BAR Non-Parti-an Judiciary Wins Approval At Annual State Confab. M. B. Pope, Provo, former Fourth district attorney, was elected elect-ed president of the Utah State Bar .association Saturday at the annual convention. Mr. Pope succeeds William Wil-liam M. McCrea of Salt Lake. Sam Cline of Milford was made vice president and L. M. Cum-mings Cum-mings chief clerk of thc state supreme su-preme court, was re-elected secretary. secre-tary. Mr. Cline succeeds Samuel C. Powell of Ogden. Several hundred attorn e y s, judges and public prosecutors attended at-tended the convention at which action ac-tion was taken toward an improvement im-provement in judicial procedure in Utah". A plan providing for a nonpartisan non-partisan judiciary was among the important measures adopted by the convention. The question of eliminating juvcnif.c judges from the state, favored fa-vored by the association in an earlier meeting, was tabled on receipt re-ceipt of an adverse report by a special committee. |
