Show STORM SWEEPS PACIFIC COAST SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 25(U.n An Alaskan storm sweeping down j the Pacific coast gave signs of subsidinc today, leaving dealh, dest ruet'toti unrl suffering in its wake. HiglJ winds and torrential rains swept Ihe coast, while farlher inland in-land in the mountain regions, the worst blizzard in years sent the temperature tumbling, deepening the already thick blanket of snow and endangering many lives. Hundreds of automobile drivers driv-ers and train passengers were marooned mar-ooned as snow drifts stranded traffic traf-fic in Nevada. The blizzard- there was reported to be the worst in many years. The fate of several persons trapped on the drifted and lovefy Nevada highways remained in doubt today as rescue parties set out in search of them. Two mail plane pilots, Harold R. Adams and Kenneth Householder, were killed near Eugene, Ore., in attempting to take off in the storm. An unidentified man was drowned drown-ed off Point, Richmond in San ; Francisco ha v when his sailboat , "buffeted by the pounding surf, overturned. |
