"Only the Brave" is an original story of Keene Thompson. It was directed bv Frank Tuttle. "THE ISLE OF LOST SHIPS' If dramatic climaxes and physical thrills can make your spine tingle and your hair stand on end, that is what will happen to you when you see "The Isle of Los Ships," at the Rivoli theater Friday and Saturday. Satur-day. "The Isle of Lost Ships" is marvelous mar-velous entertainment. It is a First National picture directed by Irvin Willat. The highly imaginative plot, which certainly brushes the cobwebs cob-webs of business worries and humdrum hum-drum existence on the screen, was devised by Crittenden Marriott. The picture is based on his novel, "The Isle of Dead Ships." It's a show for everybody; we recommend it without qualification. "THEIR OWN DESIRE" Two new song hits are introduced intro-duced in "Their Own Desire," Norma Shearer's all-talking picture which plays at the Rivoli theater Sunday. Monday and Tuesday. They are "Blue Is the Night," written by red Fisher, and "She's Got the Boy Friend Blues," by Reggie Montgomery and George Ward. E. Mason Hopper and James Forbes directed the picture which was adapted from the Sarita Fuller ' novel. "ONLY THE BRAVE" There is plenty of soldier characterization char-acterization for John H. Elliott to do in "Only the Brave," Gary Cooper's Coop-er's second starring picture coming to the Rivoli theater on Wednesday and Thursday. Elliott plays a southern south-ern colonel in this adventure ro-1 mance of Civil War days, and then doubles it by appearing in the same film as Gen. Robert E. Lee. In the supporting cast of the j Cooper film with him are Mary j Brian, Phillips Holmes, Morgan Farley, Virginia Bruce, Guy Oliver |
