Show I ; ; I CITY BEAUTIFICATION ! j ' I Selling a community is an everlasting task that 4 ; j .seems to interest loyal citizens everywhere. Making- :i . town attractive is probably the quickest way to appeal ! to the homeseeker. Realizing this, city officials and I ioyal civic organizations urge citizens to improve the j ' appearance of their homes by cleaning away unsightly j I debris, planting flowers and lawns, and painting their j I houses. All of these efforts are praiseworthy. Noth- ; ; ing adds' to the beauty of one's home and the town so : j much as blooming flowers and green lawns, extending ! . to the curb line. II Such enterprise reflects all of the elements that j! ' make for good citizenship. Commendable effort has 1 ' j been put forth in Springville in this regard, but, of I j course, there is always room for improvement. ! j At this moment a large group of business men are j ; Putting forth special effort to effect harmonious senti- ! j ment favoring the completion of the paving and recon- j , struction of curb and gutter in front of the business j houses on Main street. We hope those interested in j 1 having this improvement made will be successful, be- ! 1 cause it is one that will add much to the appearance of ! ! the city, and convenience to motorists, who under the i j present conditions find parking on Main street some- j what hazardous. j Another improvement in line with the general j beautification program that should enlist the attention j : of all loyal citizens, is the need of changing the city's : dumping grounds. At this time refuse is being dumped ! at the foot of the mountains north of the city and with- j in a stone's throw of the main highway. In fact, re- j cently several old automobile bodies and other junk was dumped within a couple or three rods of the state high- j way. j Such unsightly trash should be put iij some ravine west of town where it will not be seen by everyone . : traveling the main highway. We hope some concerted 1 and effective effort will be put forth to remedy this ! condition. 1 i -. . . |
