Show SEEK WINTER C. C. C. CAMP Attempts are being made to have the Strawberry valley civilian conservation con-servation corps come to Provo for the winter at the county fair .grounds, according to Mark Anderson, Ander-son, civilian director of the Hobble Creek camp. Work of building check dams and flood control devices at the small canyons east of Provo and Springville, making a trail up Slate canyon and other trails are among the jobs confronting the camp if it comes here. Eighty-one of the boys at the Hobble Creek camp have re-enrolled for another six months, Mr. Anderson An-derson says. Of this total 56 are from the group of 185 New York boys and all 25 of the Utah county boys have re-enrolled. Nearly 100 percent of the Strawberry Straw-berry camp personnel is comprised of Utah men. The eastern boys will probably be sent to some eastern east-ern or southern camp, he said. Officials from Fort Douglas are visiting the site of the proposed camp Friday. Fear of abnormally cold weather in this section has held back the decision on placing the camp here, among other things. |
