Show SOCIETY NEVS Mrs. LaVieve H. Earl of Provo presented a splendid program at the bi-monthly meeting of the Ladies' Literary club held Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Lela B. Packard. Mrs. Earl gave a talk on "Current Literature" and followed fol-lowed with a paper "Twilight Voices" which deals with the lives and works of several negro poets. Miss Betty Boyer furnished a piano solo. Preceeding the program dinner din-ner was served, each small, table being centered with sweet peas. Covers were laid for eighteen members mem-bers and guests. Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Letha Hutchings of this city to Leland Johnson of Provo which took place at Farm-ington Farm-ington last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Groesbeck have returned to their homes in Reno, Nevada after a ten days' visit with relatives and friends here. j Complimentary to John S. Groesbeck Groes-beck whose sixty-sixth birthday anniversary an-niversary occurred last Friday Mrs. E. S. Groesbeck entertained at a nicely arranged family dinner at their home. Miss Naomi Broadbent gave a splendid review of the play "Let Us Be Gay" at the meeting of the Home Culture club Friday afternoon after-noon at the home of Mrs. C. E. Eggertson. Eg-gertson. Miss Geraldine Eggertson Eggert-son furnished a vocal solo, accompanied accom-panied at the piano by her sister Mrs. Helen Thorpe. Luncheon was served by the hostess to twenty-two twenty-two club members and three guests. During the afternoon Mrs. B. M. Mendenhall, Mis. H. McDougall, I Mrs. L. E. Otteson and Mrs. C. O. Claudin were named as program committee for the next club year. Mrs. E. V, Borman, newly elected president, is delegate and Mrs. H. E. Urquhart alternate to the club convention in Ogden, April 11 and 12. Mrs. B. M. Mendenhall will attend as district trustee. The Easter ball given by the Third and Second ward M. I. A. at the latter's hal Tuesday evening proved a success, with a large crowd of young folks attending. A number of eleven Easter prizes were given away during the evening eve-ning outstanding of which was the grand prize of fifteen dozen eggs, awarded to Russen Bird. . Mr. and Mrs. Bert Harward of Salt Lake were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sumsion. Mrs.- Ann Stewart gave a delightful delight-ful party Saturday evening for the N. I. P. club members. During progressive 500, Mrs. Fay Thomas and Mrs. Blanch Hales won prizes. Luncheon was served by the hostess host-ess who carried out an artistic Easter color scheme throughout. Present were Afton Palfreyman, Lucille Packard, Mabel Averett, Louise Brown, Sarabell Stewart, Clorice Kindred, Audrey Jensen, Fay Thomas, Viola Smith, Blanch Hales, Birdie Thorpe, Marian Phillips of Provo and Marie Burt, the latter five being guests. Owen Beardall, son of Mrs. Rhoda Beardall and Miss Bernice Warner of Spanish Fork were married mar-ried Monday in the Salt Lake temple. Miss Viva Larson entertained at a miscellaneous shower on Saturday Satur-day evening complimentary to Mrs. Frank Larabcc, a recent bride. The time was spent with games and music followed by lunch. Many pretty gifts were presented the guest of honor from relatives and friends present. .Mrs. Lewis Clegg was hostess to the Social Twelve club at her home on Saturday evening. During progressive auction bridge Mrs. George Crandall won high score prize and Mrs. Will Brown the consolation. con-solation. An attractive Easter luncheon was served at 11 o'clock by the hostess. Ten club members and Mrs. Will Phillips, Mrs. Wallace Wal-lace Clegg and Mrs. Bert Harward attended as guests. Wanita Dunn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Dunn and Frank Larabee, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Larabee were married March 18 at Provo. They are making their home in this city. The alumni members of the Novelty Nov-elty .Circle of classes '27 to '31 entertained en-tertained at a pot luck supper at the home of Olive and Virginia Childs Tuesday evening. Progres-ive Progres-ive games were enjoyed by Aleen Wheeler, Dona Salisbury, Merlyn Hall, Alberta Mendenhall, Helen Alleman, Olive Madsen, Florence Bringhurst, Josephine Brimhall, j Almina Madsen. Wanda Stewart, Mae Taylor and the hostesses. Members of the Ava Delma club will be guests of Mrs. Viola Smith Wednesday evening March 30. All are invited to be present. Mr. and Mrs. W. H.
