Show HOLDUPS GET FIVE YEARS Each drawing a sentence of from five years to lite imprisonment in the state penitentiary, Joe Milton land Charles Caldwell were convicted i in the district engirt for holding up j Roscoe C. Fairchild at the railroad crossing on West Center street a month ago and robbing him of about .$48. The youths pleaded guilty to the charge before Judge Elias Hansen Monday and were sentenced late Monday afternoon. The three men including Fnirchild were riding down from Soldier Summit Sum-mit on a freight train. Fairchild had treated the crowd to a meal just before they left the Summit. On reaching Provo, Milton and Cildwell knowing that Fairchild had money in his pockets, persuaded the party to leave the train, which they did. When clear of the tracks, however, how-ever, Milton and Caldwell ordered Fairchild to hold up his hands and then proceeded to relieve him of his money. After taking the money, the party proceeded to a restaurant up town, the bandits taking Fairchild along with them. Fairchild got access to the telephone at the restaurant and called the police. The others fled, but were later apprehended and lodged in jail. |
