Show CEDAR VALLEY FARMERS ASK MORE WATER Desire to Be Considered in the Proposed Weber-Provo Weber-Provo Project. A delegation of farmers from Cedar Valley petitioned the Utah county commission Monday to have their district included in the proposed pro-posed reclamation of Utah lake lauds. According to Chairman James T. Gardner, the petitioners explained that there are several thousaud acres of land that could be reclaimed if sufficient wuter could be diverted into that section. A delegation of Cedar Valley farmers together with Commissioner Gardner and Judge James B. Tucker, who is representing Utah county in the reclamation deliberations, delibera-tions, will consult with Lloyd Garrison, Garri-son, state engineer and W. M. Green, reclamation engineer, Wednesday, relative to the proposition. According to J'dge Tucker, the irrigation of Cedar Valley presents a rather unique problem from the fact that most of the valley is more than 000 feet above Utah lake and is more than 300 feet higher than the highest point supplied by water from the I'rovo Reservoir company. It may be feasible to pump the water 300 feet from the Murtfock canal on the west side of the Jordan river and divert that water into Cedar Valley, according to Judge Tucker. At the present time any plans calling for the irrigation of the val-le" val-le" calls for too great an expenditure expendi-ture to make any such an undertaking undertak-ing practicable. If water should be taken by gravitation gravi-tation from the Provo river into the valley, it would require, according to engineers who have studied the subject, a canal more than 150 feet higher than the flume of the Utah 1 Power & Light company at Olmstead and the construction of a canal high up on the mountain sides to the1 Point of the Mountain. Whether or not anything can be; done at this time for the irriga-i tion of the Cedar Valley lands will be decided Wednesday. |
