Show In The Social Realm Mrs. Manilla Brown Reporter, Phone 146 Among the leading social events of the week end was the party given Saturday evening by the Gleaner girls of the Third ward, and friends at the home of Miss Helen Mendenliall Menden-liall in compliment to Miss Josephine Joseph-ine Dougall who will be married next week. Social chat, games and delicious refreshments were enjoyed enjoy-ed by the following girls: Ruth Musig, Lillian Kussell, Virginia Packard, Jessie Packard, , Irene Metcalf. Jessie J. Dalton, Mrs. 1). A. Smith, Mrs. G. L. Barron. Miss Margaret Maughn of Logan, Miss Florence Lougall of Salt Lake, Alice K. Johnson, Anna B. Har-ward. Har-ward. The honor guest was presented pre-sented with two beautiful gifts, one by the Gleaner class of which she is a member, the other from friends present. ' Mrs.' A. "W: Criss"' and daughter of Butte, Montana, are visiting her mother Mrs. Lottie Crandall. Mrs. Criss is on her way to Los Angeles where she will join her husband. Mr. and Mrs. John J mi sen and children of Ogden spent last week with Mrs. Jansen's parents Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Childs. Mrs. Jansen was formerly Blanch Childs of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Dell Thorn and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Payne were among those-who attended the funeral fun-eral services fur Mrs. Lewis Clark at Salina Sunday. Principal E. E. Knudsen and J. IT YYingate are enjoying a weeks fishing trip to Si raw berry. Mrs. Mell Crawford and children of Soldier Summit formerly of Springville motored here Wednesday Wednes-day where she visited with Mrs. Hazel Shepherd. She also attended the Kolob stake outing at Kelley's Grove Friday. Howard Maycock, son of Piesi-dent Piesi-dent and Mrs. G. It. Maycock will leave Monday. August. 22 for Salt Lake where he will attend the missionary mis-sionary school preparatory for leaving for a mission to Australia. After attending school for 10 days he will be allowed to stay home for 10 days leaving for his field of labor about September 12. Miss Margaret Miner of Magna is spending this week as the guest of Miss Evelyn Miner of this city. Mrs. I). -P. Brinton left his morning morn-ing for San Francisco, Calif., where she exects to spend a month visiting visit-ing with her son Frank and daughter daugh-ter Miss Orissa Brinton. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Weslwood entertained at dinner Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Walsh and" their niece Miss Sadie Wiseombe all of Salt Lake City. During the afternoon after-noon they attended the funeral of Mrs. Mary CofTmau. A nicely arranged dinner was liiven Sunday by Mr. mid Mrs. E. E. Clark have returned to their homes after spending four days at Salina. They made the trip especially to attend the funeral fun-eral of 31 rs. Lewis Clark Sunday. On their return they were accompanied accom-panied by 3Ir. Clark who Jifter visiting with his parents 31 r. and 3Irs. .1. II. Clark here, returned to his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. An interesting social event of the early week was the dinner party given Sunday by 31 r. and Mrs. John Crandall in compliment to their nephew Howard 3Iaycock who leaves soon for a mission to Australia. Aus-tralia. , About the entertaining rooms were arranged beautiful hoquets of golden-glow and roses; also the dining table was centered wilh golden-glow. Guests included Mr. ami Mrs. G. It. Maycock and family. Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Condie and 3Iiss 3Ielba Condie, 3Irs. Blanch M. Condie, and the honor guest. In the evening the party assembled at the Fourth ward chapel where with a large crowd of friends they listened list-ened to a musical concert given also in compliment to Howard. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Neilson of this city who have made their home in Park City for the past wo months spent a short time with friends here Monday. 31 rs. V. S. AVilson and children are spending this week at Mt. Pleasant Pleas-ant with 31rs. Wilson's mother. 3iiss Helen Clark, accompanied by her sister, Mrs. II. W. Miller, went to American Fork Wednesday. There they met a group of friends from Salt Lake City, and the party motored to American Fork canyon, where they visited Timpanogos ca ve. Mr. and Mrs. Honald Thorpe entertained en-tertained at a prettily arranged dinner Sunday in compliment to Mrs. O. S. Burton and children of Salt Liike City who are spending a week with them. Besides the honor guests covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Thorpe and family of Mapletou, and Abner Thorn. 3Ir. and 3Irs. John F. Burt entertained enter-tained at dinner Thursday evening for the following guests: Mr. and Charles Lewis, Mr. and 3Irs. Dean Mrs. Walter E. Lewis, Mr. and 3Irs. Penrod. Miss Beth and Dora Lewis, Mr. and 3Irs. John T. Burt, 3Ir. and Mrs. Bird Huntington, 3lr. and Mrs. J. II. Arrowsmith and 3Irs. ,. C. Marcussen. Mrs. Clyde Pace and little daughter daugh-ter are spending this week in Salt Lake as the guest of Mr. and 31 rs. A. L. Allred. 3Ir. and Mrs. John W. Doiiirall announce the engagement of their daughter Josephine to Joseph Smoot Kobison, son of the late Dr. itobi-son itobi-son of Provo. The marriage will take place August 2-"t. The young couple have been leaders in the younger set. both in Provn and Springville. bolh having graduated from the B. Y. U. Mr. Uohison has also attended the U. of U. fur three years. Miss Sylvia Bridwell of Salt. Lake visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Sumsion last week. Members of the Utah Poultry association as-sociation and employes from Sprimr-ille Sprimr-ille and Provo motored to Maple Dell resort Saturday afternoon where bathing, boating and a picnic lunch were enjoyed . 3Ir. and Mrs. Deal Mcndenhall and children have returned to their home in Canada after a few days visit with relatives and friends here.
