Show TEXAS JUDGE KILLS YOUTH Boy's Mother in Coma After Tragedy; Secret Mar-1 Mar-1 riage Cause. AMAPJLLO, Texas, May 7. (U.P) Still unconscious from the shock she suffered with the realization that her urging se'nt her son to death, Mrs. Grace Walton accompanied accom-panied the body of her son, Tom, to McAlester, Okla., today, where the youth will be buried. Mrs. Walton was prostrated when advised her son had bee'n shot to death by Judge H. R. Hamilton, promine'it churchman and barrister of Amarillo yesterday she became unconscious and was still in a coma vhen the train left here for McAlester. Mc-Alester. Walton was killed by the judge vhen he walked into the latter's office to tell of his secret marriage to Judge Hamilton's pretty 17-year-old daughter, The'resa. Apparently unaware of the marriage mar-riage and believing his daughter had been dishonored, Judge Hamilton Hamil-ton invoke-d the old code of the' southwest taking the law into one's own hands to defend the name of a woman and shot the boy four times, it is believed befo:e the youth could tell his story. Mrs. Walton knew of the secret marriage, which took place in February Feb-ruary while Tom and Theresa were students at the University of Texas. She worrie'd because Judge Hamilton Hamil-ton had not been advised and she" 1 urged her boy to tell. It was her pleadings which sent young Walton to the judge's office I Saturday, joking over the possibility possibil-ity of being shot, and which re-sulte'd re-sulte'd in the boy's death. A grand jury is expected to make its report in the matter today. It is believed that Judge Hamilton will be indicted for murder. The girl and her mother have gone' into seclusion. Their apartment apart-ment in Austin is deserted. It was j learned that Theresa was taken to a hospital in Austin a short time ago, and apparently it was this fact which led to the murder. Indignation spread through Amarillo Am-arillo yesterday. The citize'ns were aroused over the shooting and there was some talk last night of violence ; against the judge. I |
