Show SPRINGVILLE LEADS LEAGUE Tho Springville high school basketball bas-ketball crew is now tied for first place iiv the Neho division with the Nephi high school five. Friday the team journeyed to Trovo and returned with the scalp of that school after a contest which was all for Springville. The state champions were in the lead throughout through-out the contest and were never in danger of being defeated. The score 15 tol7. The five man defense which the Springville team has perfected under un-der the splendid coaching of Dazol Smith, was employed to such tin advantage ad-vantage that the Provo players were unable even to get past the center line. Clark played a wonderful game for the winners and had his eye set on the basket. Four beautiful ; field goals were made by him, two in the second quarter and one each in the third and fourth quarters. Burt the tall Springville center, made two field goals in' the third period, while Cranmer was held down to one basket which he made in the firsfr quarter. He had several sev-eral good shots at the basket but was unable to find the hoop. Thorn, Grahnm and Uaymond scored nothing from, the field. In the fourth period Thorn and Dixon were taken from the game on personal per-sonal fouls, Hammond taking the former's and Biddulph the latters' place. The Spa n ish Fork quint was taken Into camp in a listless nnd onesided game in Spanish Fork Tuesday evening, the score being 42 to 9. The Sjringville boys had verytbing their own way, the Fork-ers Fork-ers being unable to locate the hoop unler the watchful care of the Springville guards. The Springville seconds beat the Spanish Fork seconds at Springville the score being 30 to 12. |
