Show I SOCIETY 1 Prominent among the social happenings hap-penings of the week was a paty given Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Will Bird complimentary complimen-tary to her sister, Miss Iva Phillips Phil-lips and LeRoy Hodson, who will be married early in September. The entire house was beautifully decorated dec-orated with a variety of late a-um-mer flowers. A splendid program of games was enjoyed during the evening followed by a delicious lunch. A unique decorative feature fea-ture of the party was a large container con-tainer made in the form of a wedding wed-ding cake and decorated with immense im-mense candles. This held the bridal gifts. The candles were lighted and good wishes extended to all present as the honored guests opened their many pretty and useful gifts. E. Crump, Lee Roy Hodson, Miss Hilda Peterson and Miss Seegmil-ler Seegmil-ler of St. George. The following relatives were guests at a nicely arranged dinner din-ner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Harmer Thursday evening: Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Reed, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Black of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Harmer, Miss Floss Harmer, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Loher, Mrs. Maud Ogden, Mrs. Amy Donaldson, Don-aldson, Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds Harmer. Members of the S. T. club will be entertained at their next meeting, meet-ing, September 12, at the home of Mrs. Floyd Harmer. Cards and luncheon will be features of the, party. All members are asked to be in attendance. Members of the Kolob stake Relief Re-lief societies held a successful bazaar ba-zaar here Friday afternoon. A variety va-riety of needlework, womens and childrens wearing apparel, rugs, etc., were on display. Refreshments Refresh-ments were sold. A large crowd attended at-tended the affair during the time. Tuesday evening, September 3, the Mutual Improvement stake- officers of-ficers of Kolob stake will entertain the ward officers and teachers at a social in the high school beginning begin-ning at 8 o'clock. A splendid program pro-gram is announced for the occasion occa-sion and a good time promised all who attend. An especially enjoyable evening ; was spent by the Second ward j Gleaner class Thursday evening at the home of Miss Mary Boyer. As- j sisting hostesses were Mis. Arthur i Boyer and Miss Bernice Clark. A program of interesting games as well as two musical readings by Mrs. Blanch G. Hales and a reading read-ing by Mrs. Helen Alleman were greatly enjoyed by all. In conclusion conclu-sion a delicious luncheon was served to the following ladies present. pres-ent. Misses Ada, Elda and Lola Smith, Misses Olive and Lucy Childs, Miss Marie Rigtrup, Miss Mabel Smith. Mrs. Horace Clark, Mrs. Blanch G. Hales, Mrs. George Anderson, Miss Jessee Alleman, Miss Helen Alleman, Miss Portia Davis, Miss Bernice Clark, Miss Rena Bird and the hostesses. This is the last social gathering of this class for the season. A large average av-erage attendance of this class has participated in various social gatherings gath-erings during the entire summer. The same loyal spirit is expected to be carried through the winter class work. Announcement is made of tho marriage of Miss Toss Hines, well known musician of this city, to Dr. Frank A. Hatfield of Los Angeles, An-geles, Calif. The ceremony was performed in the presence of immediate im-mediate relatives and friends at the home of Dr. and Mrs. J. H. Slater in Los Angeles, Saturday, August 17. Rev. J. M. Schaifie of the Congregational church officiated.' officiat-ed.' In honor of Mr. and Mrs. James J. Graham who were married Saturday, Sat-urday, the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Daley entertained at a wedding breakfast at their home Sun lay morning. Early autumn flowers were used in room and table decorations. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mis. Eugene Lambson, George Graham of Loa Angeles, the guests of 'Tionor and immediate family members. A wedding reception was given the young couple Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Mitchell in Midvale. More than 60 guests were in attendance. Prominent among the social functions of the week was the trousseau tea given Sunday afternoon after-noon by Miss Icne Palfrcyman, a bride of this month. The long dining din-ing table was centered with a pale pink bowl of pink and white asters and roses interspersed with crn and baby-breath. Tall white candles in pink holder s added much to the eoler scheme of pink and white which was also carried out in the dainty refreshments. Serving were Mrs. Floyd Harmer, Mrs. Almon Harmer. Mrs. Eldon Palfrey man, Misses Mary and Lucy Roylance, Miss Helen Pelfreyman. A variety of beautiful handiwork articles and bridal gifts were displayed. More than 125 guests called during the afternoon. Dr. and Mrs. G. G. Neill were hosts to the following relatives and friends who have visited them during the past several days: Mr. and Mrs. John A. Anderson of Wyoming; Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Asp-lund Asp-lund and daughter, Wanda, of Raymond, Ray-mond, Alberta, Canada. Joseph Teasdale, son of Mrs. William Wil-liam Teasdale of this city and Miss Mabel Jensen of Brigham City vere married Wednesday, September 4, in the Salt Lake temple. Mr. Teas-dale Teas-dale is manager of a local candy store. Following a honeymoon trip to California, the young couple will make their home in Spiingville. Members of the Home Culture club of this city will begin their work for this season Friday when they will meet at the home of Mrs. H. E. Urquhart. An interesting program pro-gram is announced for this ucca-sion ucca-sion and all members arc asked to be present. A nicely arranged Jinner was given Saturday evening by Mr. and Mrs. George Simpkins at their j home complimentary to Mr. and ' Mrs. H. A. Whitehead and daughters, daugh-ters, Anna and Virginia of Eureka. At a recent meeting of the boys' 4-H club of this city it was decided decid-ed that a number of specimens of summer's work done by members in their farm and poultry projects would be exhibited in the local fairs during September. Club Leader Reed Rigtrup was in charge. Phins for sending stock judging teams to the state fair were also discussed. Ralph Snclson, manager of the Snelson drug store in thi;j city and Miss Fay Stevens were man it Wednesday in the Salt J temple. They will make the home in this city.
