Show ! SOCIETY NEWS One of the outstanding social functions of the late week was the Kensington given by Mrs. Charles Boyer and Mrs. H. T. Reynolds, Jr., at the home of the latter Saturday afternoon. Entertaining rooms were bcauiful, being decorated with a profusion of early autumn 1 lowers. low-ers. A splendid program was enjoyed en-joyed by the guests during the afternoon, aft-ernoon, and included the following numbers: vocal solo, . Miss Catherine Cath-erine R. Dougall; piano solo, Miss Alzada Wilmott; violin solo, Miss Ileen Stevenson; reading, -Miss Helen Alleman; reading, Taylor Reynolds. Following a pleasant time spent with sewing and social , the B. Y. U. gave an' attractive luncheon at Hotel Roberts Thursday Thurs-day afternoon. Summer flowers added to the attractive luncheon tables around which places were arranged fbr the following friends: Ruth Hansen, Margaret Hansen, Dorothy Coon, Marva Hodson, Pearl Dahle, Ada Burch, Ada Has-ler, Has-ler, Eunice Bird, Elaine Paxman, all of Provo; Vesta Anderson, Loya Nelson, Donna Salisbury, Margaret Bird of this city and Beth Swenson of Pleasant Grove. Mrs. M. F. Miner had as guests during one day of the past week Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Williams and family of Cardston, Canada. - One of the most enjoyable parties of this week was given Sunday afternoon aft-ernoon when a number of relatives surprised David Wheeler at his home, the occasion being his eighty-eighth eighty-eighth birthday anniversary. During Dur-ing the afternoon a splendid program pro-gram was given of musical selections selec-tions and readings. Mr. Wheeler cook prominent part on the program, pro-gram, and enjoyed himself era-mensely era-mensely despite his years. Following Follow-ing the program a delicious picnic luncheon was served to the following follow-ing friends and relatives: Mrs. Walter Wal-ter Wheeler, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. A. Y. Wheeler, Mrs. J. T. Wheeler, Mr. and Mrs. Dimick Childs, Mrs. A. W. Cherrington, Mr. and Mrs. Will Harrison, Mrs. Lucy Robertson, Mrs. David Wheeler of this city and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Rand, Mr. and Mrs. John Kirkham, Mr. and Mrs. Russell all of Salt Lake. During Dur-ing the afternoon and evening the following friends and neighbors called to extend best wishes. Bishop Hilton Robertson, Mrs. Ann Mendenhall Men-denhall of Salt Lake, Jim Whiting and Mrs. Solon Wood. The Daughters of the Pioneers Camp No. 2 will begii'i their meetings meet-ings of the season Thursday, September Sep-tember 32 at-the home of Mrs. Willis Wil-lis Strong. General business and a program will be features of the afternoon. All members are invited in-vited and asked to be present promptly at 2 o'clock. An enjoyable social, marking the beginning of the work of the Missionary Mis-sionary society of the Springville Community church for this season, was held Wednesday afternoon at the home of the president, Mrs. L. M. Gillilan. During the early afternoon an especially interesting talk on "Experiences as a Nurse end Missionary" were given by Miss Moores who recently returned from an eight years mission in Africa. Later a four-act play un-dci' un-dci' the supervision of Miss Elizabeth Eliza-beth Gillilan was given, the large veranda forming a fitting back ground for the scenes. Miss Florence Flor-ence Dougall also rendered a vocal solo. The young people of the church were special guedts. In conclusion con-clusion a delicious picnic lunch was served to about 35 members and guests present. Mrs. W. J. Groesbeck was hostess host-ess at a nicely arranged dinner at her home Sunday honoring her husband whose birthday occurred that day. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Bui ton Groesbeck and family, and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Campbell of Salt Lake. A number of relatives and friends formed a party Tuesday anad motored mo-tored over the Timpanogos'loop and to Heber hot springs where lunch was enjoyed. Those included in the parly were: Mr. and Mrs. Orson Or-son Mnnwaring, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ar-thur Manwaring of Elackfoot, Ida.. Mr. and Mrs. L.is J. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hansen entertained en-tertained at a nicely arranged dinner din-ner at their home Sunday complimentary compli-mentary to Mr. and' Mrs. Jack Fin-ley Fin-ley and children, Dale and Glenna, who were visiting here from Washington. Wash-ington. The long dining table held a centerpiece of early fall flowers. Covers were laid for thirteen including in-cluding guests of honor, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harmer and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Almon Harmer and immediate family members. The party enjoyed a swim at Gcngarry before dinner. An interesting announcement of this week is that of the marilage of Miss LaVon Daley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Daley of this city, to James J. Graham of Los Angeles. The ceremony was performed in Salt Lake City, Aug. 31. The young couple left Sunday evening "for Los Angeles where they will make their home. The Daughters of the Pioneers, Camp No. 1, will begin their meetings meet-ings Thursday, September 12, at which time they will meet at the home of Mrs. Maigarct Miner. A progiam and history is arranged for the afternoon and all members are invited and urged to be present. The family reunion of Mrs. Eliza Singleton, wife of the kite Hubert Singleton', met in the form of a family reunion and also to celebrate the seventy-fifth birthday anniversary anniver-sary of Mrs. Singleton Sunday at her home. She is a pioneer of this city having come here with her parents in 18,58. She has taken an active part in the religious affairs of the community and has been associated as-sociated with tho Relief society for more than 40 years. She is the mother of the following children who were piesent at the social: Mrs. I. W. Hodson of Provo. John Singleton. Mrs. A. J. Christensen, this city; Eugene Singleton.
