Show TAXPAYERS OF COUNTY FORM ACTIVE UNIT The Utah county committee of the I'tah. Taxpayers Association wns named ot a meeting of taxpayers held in Provo city Friday evening. This action followed the adoption of resolutions calling for greater economy in the administration of the governmental affairs of the nntion, state, and the cities of this county. ... The meeting was in charge of Senator Leltoy Dixon, who was made chairman of the T'tah county committee. The . original program as announced wns dispensed with in order that those present might hear from Sen. M. Shirley Windor. vice president; A. G. McKenzie and Orson J. Hyde, directors, of the Utah Taxpayers association. Mr. McKenzie gave statistics bearing on the growing burden of taxntion in federal, state, county and city governments. The figures quoted indicated that with a decrease de-crease in federal taxes the trend of local taxes Is upward. He stated , thnt a survey of fifteen fif-teen cities of the United States showed that it costs 2(1 per cent more to run the federal government than it does for food. lie deplored the fact that statistics also reveal that every ten. men in the United Stales must keep one government official in office. He declared that taxes during the last three years have increased from 11 per cent of the national income to over 14 per ceut. In Utah out of every SUM) paid for labor or business, approximately $14 of that money must be paid out in vurious forms of taxes. In urging the need of a county organization. Taxpayers' Associations throughout the country and declared declar-ed that splendid results have accrued ac-crued from their efforts. Tbe resolutions adopled touched on bond elections, independent and its. education, budget sysleni. membership mem-bership nnd cooperation', and define methods by which the Utah county taxpayers can through their organization organ-ization become great factors in the reduction of taxes.
