Mrs. A. C. Bird gave a paper on ''Interior Decoration. ' Mrs. Milan Mi-lan R. Straw lead a discussion on parlementary rules. Mrs. Mary Whitney gave two piano selections. Dainty refreshments were served to seventeen members and invited guests. Mrs. Wm, Bailey of Provo and Mrs. Lillian Houtz. Mrs. Mary Xne entertained the fifth group of the First ward Primary Pri-mary Saturday afternoon at her home. Friends and neighbors invaded the home of Mrs. Daisy Kelly, March 7 (ber son Floyd's birthday), in 'commemoration of Mrs. Kelly's birthday of February 10. The evening even-ing was spent in playing games, music, recitations and reminiscences, reminis-cences, followed by a delicious luncheon. A delightful time was had by all. Curtis and Mrs. J. Smith. The Aaron Johnson camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers met at the home of Mrs. Retta O. Sum-ifiion, Sum-ifiion, March 6. President Eliza Thorn presided. After singing and prayer by the chaplain, a sketch of the life of James Oakley was civen by his daughter, Mrs Retta Sum-ioii. Sum-ioii. Following the sketch a reading read-ing was giwn by Mrs. Olive Anderson Ander-son and a piano solo by Mrs. Myron E. Crandall, Jr. Mrs. Rose Bally Boyer read a poem written by her father, descriptive of the sufferings of the ill-fated handcart company of 1850, the author having been a member of that company. A committee com-mittee was selected to prepare a program for the annual meeting to be held on April 23. Also a nominating nomi-nating committee was elected to select candidates for office for the election to be held on the above date. Minutes were read and roll iraa called. Benediction was offered offer-ed by Mrs. L. M. White. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served by the hostesses, host-esses, Mesdames Retta Sumsion, Carrie Parry, Belle Child and Linuie Sumsion. Decorations appropriate for St. Patrick's day were carried out. The evening was A. O. Thorn returned to Orchard, Idaho, Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Howard McCurdy of Salt Lake City were visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Jake McCurdy. J. Wm. Clark will return to Orchard, Or-chard, Idaho to resume his work there Friday. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Huntington and children of Salt Lake City are the guests this week of Mr. and Mrs. Albert S. Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Burley Bowen and Minid Mrs. Jack Evans of Eureka spent at "500". Mrs. Wm. Brown won the prize. Those present were Mrs. G. D. Kennedy, Mrs. Lee Sumsion, Sum-sion, Mrs. Harry Pennington, Mrs. George Crandall, Mrs. Amasa Rowland, Row-land, Mrs. Arthur Finley and Mrs. Andrew Peterson. Mrs. Arch Combs was an invited guest. . . Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Miner and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jensen were pleasantly pleas-antly entertained Sunday afternoon at Provo by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dunn and Mrs. Bringhurst. Through Dr. nnd Mrs. Dunn's courtesy cour-tesy much of the hospital was viewed view-ed by the visitors. It was found in a beautiful clean condition; all newly painted in soft light colors with beautiful pictures on the walls nnd new home made rugs eoverins the floors. The bountious store house of provisions was an impressive impres-sive sight--to the visitors. Dinner was served to the guests in the large cheery dining room of the doctor's private quarters. Mrs. O. Miner were Salem visitors hist Saturday nnd were the guests of Bishop and Mrs. X. C. Christensen and their daughter daugh-ter Priscilla. who left Monday for a mission to the Central states. |
