Aldous., Mr. Aldous has completed his medical course In Philadelphia and they will leave soon for southern Utah where he will take up his practice. Mr. and Mrs. Don C. Ruston of the Australian mission and three lady misisonaries visited at the home of Mr. nnd Mrs. Ililtou Iloo-ertson, Iloo-ertson, Monday. Mrs. C. D. Evans and Frank Evans of Salt Lake are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Wiseomb. Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Brition. A wedding supper was given at I the home of Mrs. James Ellis Thurs-' day evening, August 20, in honor of her sister, Miss Ilia Lnrsen, who was married to Lester E. Ottesen of Palmyra, Wednesday, August 19, in the Salt Lake temple. Mr. nnd Mrs. Ottesen will leave for Chicago Friday, August 28, where Mr. Otte-son Otte-son will finish his senior year in dentistry. ' Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Firmnge left with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Firmage of American Fork last Wednesday for a trip to Zion National park, Bryce and Grand canyons. Mrs. Elizabeth Salisvbury and Miss Derdella Reynolds entertained at a miscellaneous shower Wednesday Wednes-day evening in honor of Miss Margaret Mar-garet Bird, at the home of Mrs. Salisbury. Gaines and a luncheon were the features of the evening. Many useful and beautiful presents were received. A marriage license was issued last Monday by County Clerk Wallace M. Hales to Miss Margaret Bird and Wm. N. Grooms. ' The Junior girls of the First ward M. I. A. entertained at a lawn party in honor of their mothers at the home, of Miss Helen Gotfried-son' Gotfried-son' Friday evening. Luncheon was served to 17 guests. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Thorpe while attending the Kiwanis convention in Idnho, motored to Rigby and Ririe and visited with Wm. Gallup and family, formerly of Springville. Mrs. George Halt of Salt Lake City was the week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Beal.- Mr. and Mrs. Beveridge of Denver Den-ver arrived Thursday to spend the Dr. Harold Finch and daughters, Mildred and Ruth, of Hunnnh, Wyo., spent the week-end with Mrs. Eliza Bird. . Erdmnnn of Magna is visiting with her mother, Mrs. Eliza Thorn. : Mrs. Cora Thorn Bird of Springville Spring-ville has been, singiug -with much success in- light opera at the Am-basasdor Am-basasdor hotel at Los Angeles. She is appearing in a new opera the first of September at the Hollywood Holly-wood bowl. Mrs. Bird expects to fill an engagement at San Diego in the near future. . Miss Margaret Louise Bird entertained enter-tained at a trosseau tea Thursday of last week. The dining room was decorated with summer flowers. On the tea table was a cluny lace cover. The centerpiece was a crystal crys-tal basket of nasturtiums tied with an orange maline bow; silver candlesticks can-dlesticks held orange candles. Miss Bird was assisted by her mother, Mrs. A. C. Bird, Mrs. Fay C. Packard Pack-ard and Miss Birdella Reynolds. Miss Reva Lewis of Payson presided pre-sided at the tea table. About fifty guests called. Mr. nnd Mrs. M. A. Boyer and Mr. and Mrs. II. W. Boyer attended the linnd concert at Lagoon last Sunday. Miss Catherine R. Dougall entertained enter-tained at a bridge party Tuesday night. Miss Emeline Kindred returned aome this week from California, where she has been atendiug summer sum-mer school at the University of California. Cali-fornia. She visited with her brother B. R. Kindred at Santa Barbara. She was a witness to the great damage done In that city by the recent re-cent earthquake. Daniel Whitney, who is now making mak-ing his home in Idaho, was a town visitor this week. Miss Ada Harrison has returned from an eight weeks' visit to Portland, Port-land, Oregon, where she was the guest of Mrs. Cecil Barry and Mrs. |
