Show FOUR INJURED IN FALL AT NEW LIBRARY Scaffold Collapses With Foot Men; All Seriously Injured i By Falling Boards The collapse of tin Insecurely nailed scaffold, iu the Heber .T. Grant Iihrnry building on University Univer-sity hill resulted in serious Injuries to four plasterers who fell 15 feet to the floor Friday afternoon. The men are John W McCray, sub-contractor who had the work in charge, 39, 14G North (Fifth , East strer, this city, suffered a broken leg near the nnkle joint. Edgar FIammr 24, brother-in-law of ilcCray's, also of Provo, suffered suf-fered a badly bruised hip, a deep cut on the forehead and a sprained left ram. 1 Leonard Nielson, 30, Springville. sustained a compound fracture of the heol bone and bruises about the arms and body. John Mallinson, 50, Moron!, also suffered a -broken heel bone and body bruises. All of the injured men were hurried hur-ried to the AIrd hospital where the fractured , limbs were set and', the wounds dressed. Later they were taken to their homes. Three men were working on the scaffold when Mr. McCray went up to give instructions on some details of the work. The viberation cnused by his ascent apparently loosened some of the nails in the framework en using the entire scaffold structure struc-ture to collapse. All but one of the men lit on their feet, Flamm landing on his back. |
