Show PROVOMENARE PRAISED FOR BIGPAGEANT Professors E. II. ' Eastmond and Robert Sailer Score at Nevada Celebration "The greatest spectacle ever presented pre-sented in the state of Nevada," if not ' in the west," was the way Governor Scrougham characterized the Pablo Grande Pageant presented In St. Thomas under the direction of Prof. E. H. Eastmond. Professor Eastmond returned Sunday Sun-day from St. Thomas and reports a very successful undertaking. The pageant was presented at night in a natural ampltheater in the hills on I the site of the famous Lost City. Over three thousand people from I Nevada, California and other states both near and far gathered to wit- ness the great spectacle, which i showed the history of the state of Nevada from the time of the Zunl i Indians to the present, j Representatives of the Indian I tribes have been engaged for some ' time reconstructing a portion of the I Lost City, which constituted the ' stage for the production. The part of the pageant showing the coming of the Mormon pioneers was a very j Impressive event. As the prairie j schooners - came into view of the audience, the' Brigham Young university uni-versity band, who went as guests of ; of the state of Nevada, played the ; famous Mormon hymn,"Come, Come Ye Saints," very softly and far away at first, then coming in with all the power of their Instruments for the final rendition as the pioneers 1 moved across the giant stage in the glare of the powerful lights. Professor Pro-fessor Sauer reports that it pulled them off their seats. Governor Scrougham was delighted delight-ed with the success of the event according ac-cording to the B. Y. U. representatives representa-tives and declared that if ever Nevada Ne-vada had anothed similar event, ; Professor Eastmond would be called upon to assist them in putting it ; over. 911 |
