Show PEST INFESTED TOMATO PLANTS ARE DESTROYED Three shipments consisting of 250,000 tomato plants, which n'r-rlved n'r-rlved nt Sprlngville last week, were found to be infested with the eggs nnd grubs of the Colorado potnto beetle and in consequence had to be confiscated and destroyed by the agricultural inspection department. Those plants were imported from the state of Missouri. "It Is unfortunate thnt It Is necessary neces-sary to import plants into the state which may carry serious Insect pests and plant? diseases which may become be-come established and spreod here," declared District Agricultural Inspector In-spector C. J. Sorenson. who found It necessary to destroy the plants. A similar infected shipment was destroyed nt Pleasant Grove some weeks ago. This shipment, however, came from Kentucky. . . . |
