Show 200 ASSIST IN SEARCH FOR LOST CHILD Deon Iloldaway Escapes Death When Falling Into . . Pitch, More than 2(H) persons assisted in the search for Deon Tlohhiway, two and a half year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Ii. Iloldaway, 940 West First South street, wso wos Inst for more than an hour and a half Tuesday Tues-day evening. The child was found lying in a clump of brush about 300 yards south of the home of. the girls' prand parents, Mr. and M.rs. T. A. Halladay, ONM AVest Sixth South street. With her mother, Deon came to visit her grand parents Tuesday evening about 0 o'clock. The child unnoticed followed the mother out on the south porch of the house, as the mother went to visit with a sister. The child continued south from the house where she fell into a dilch about two feet deep and having about six inches of water in it. ' She j apparently suceedod in crawling on-j to the south side of the ditch and i then laid down in the brush. j It was not until 10 o'clock that j the child was missed, as the mother j returned to the grandparents. Aj hurried search was instituted as-, sisted by most of the members oi the Second ward who were just: j returning from the road show in I the amusement hall. The "M" men of the ward scoured every foot of ground tin a long distance from the house iir search of the child. About 10 r'JO o'clock she was , found cuddled together in the brush. Every part of her clothing was wet from falling into the ditch. Carried Car-ried into the house she was unable to stand up on account of the cold. |
