Show DEATH CALLS MARY NELSON Pioneer Woman of Springville Spring-ville Dies at Daughter's Home in Standardville. Funeral services were held in the Springville Fourth ward chapel Tuesday afternoon, October 21, for Mrs. Mary Frances Nelson, 7G years of age, pioneer of Springville Spring-ville of 1S51, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed Curtis in Standardville, Carbon county, last Friday. The body was brought to Springville on the D. & R. G. railroad, rail-road, Monday. Alva Zabriskie of the ward bishopric was in charge. The casket was covered with a profusion profu-sion of beautiful flowers. The speakers were John S. Boyer, Sr. and Bishop O. B. Huntington. Vocal solos were given by Miss Odessa : Mendenhall, Miss Jessie Johnson . and Mrs. Guy Brown. The invoca-! tion was by Wm. Ostler and the benediction by Oscar M. Mower. Interment was in the city cemetery, ceme-tery, under the direction of A. X. Wheeler, undertaker. The grave was dedicated by Harold Alleman. Mrs. Xelson was born in Iowa and came to Springville with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Roy-lance, Roy-lance, with the first eight wagons that entered Springville in September, Sep-tember, 1851. Her father was a member of the Mormon Battalion and made the trip to California before be-fore bringing his family to Utah. She was the wife of the late Maurice Mau-rice John Nelson who was a veteran vet-eran of the Civil war. She is survived sur-vived by one son and two daughters, daugh-ters, Lcrov Nelson of Bingham, Mrs Ed Curtis of Standardville, and Mrs. George Demerist of Hiawatha. |
