Show SOCIETY , I The first meeting of the season for members of the Alpha Beta club of this city was held Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Dim-ick Dim-ick Huntington. A splendid program pro-gram was arranged for the occasion occa-sion in charge of president Mrs. G. W. Mendenhall. Miss Paxman of Provo gave an especially interesting inter-esting review of the book "The Ship." This was followed by a piano solo and also a cello solo by Miss Anna Crandall, and a string duct by Miss Hah Stevenson and Miss Ida Hoffman. After a short business discussion a dainty lunch was served by the hostess to 18 members present. i Mrs. S. L. Mendenhall, Men-denhall, Sr., Mrs. Richard Condie and Mrs. Myron E. Crandall were special invited guests. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Brown have as guests this week Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Hoyle and two sons of Salt Lake They were guests Tuesday of Mr. and Mrs. Wandel Openshaw, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Brown of Provo. Complimentary to Miss Fern Sumsion, a bride of this month, the Gleaner girls of the First ward M. I. A. entertained at a miscellaneous miscel-laneous shower at the home of Mrs. Norma Noe Wednesday evening. A variety of early autumn flowers were as room decorations. Many interesting in-teresting games were enjoyed during dur-ing the evening followed by a delicious de-licious picnic lunch. Many pretty and useful bridal gifts were presented pre-sented to the honor guest. About 20 members of the class and friends were 'present including the ward M. I. A. presidency. Miss Anna Crandall will be hostess host-ess at an informal party for a number num-ber of friends Saturday evening at their summer home at Hollycrest, Kellcy's Grove. Mrs. I. W. Hodson of Provo was hostess at a miscellaneous shower Friday at her home, complimentary to Mrs. LeRoy Hodson, formerly Miss Iva Phillips of this city, a bride of early September. Autumn flowers were employed in the decorative dec-orative schme. Games and music were entertaining features of the party, as was also readings by Miss Rosemary Hodson. A delicious luncheon was served. Many useful use-ful gifts were received by the honor hon-or guest from the following ladies present: Mrs. Ratchcl Phillips, Mrs. John Singleton, Mrs. Eliza Singleton, Miss Eudora Singleton, of this city; Mrs. W. W. Taylor, Mrs. August Johnson, Lake View; Mrs. J. R. Hodson, Mrs. Will Hodson. Mrs. J. B. Olson. Mrs. Ike Boyce. Mrs. T. B. Pace. Mrs. H. K. Hodson, Mrs. Harold Hodson, Mrs. Dell Singleton, Mrs. La Veil Mower of American Fork; Misses Mae and Rosemary Hodson of Provo. "Industrial Day" is scheduled for the first meeting of the Mothers' Study club of this city, to be held Friday, Septerrrber 27, according to President Mrs. L. L. Baker. AH members will meet at the public library, after which they will visit the various factor ies and plants of this vicinity. Later they will have lunch in Provo. All members of the club are asked to participate. Many people from Springville wont to Salt Lake Monday to attend at-tend the Reynolds' reunion which was held in the Twenty-First ward in that city. More than one hundred hun-dred twenty-five descendants of the late George Reynolds were in attendance. at-tendance. The entertainment for the occasion consistd of lunch, a program and dancing. The oldest member present, Mrs. Mary Reynolds, Rey-nolds, seventy years of age and of Salt Lake, was presented with a beautiful radio from the family members; also the grandchildren, who numbered about seventy, formed form-ed in parade and as they marched past the guest of honor presented her with a carnation. Those who attended from this city were: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin, Misses Gwen and Emily Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Reed and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Rasmusson, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Meacham, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Will Harmer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Reeynolds Harmer, Mr. and Mrs. Ace Johnson, and Mr. and Mrs. Will Donaldson and family. Simplicity marked the wedding of Miss Alene Hawkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hawkins of Provo and Bernell Parry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Parley Perry of Mapleton Ma-pleton at the home of the bride's parents, Saturday evening. The ceremony was performed by Bishop L. L. Nelson of Provo Second ward in the presence of about fifty relatives rel-atives and near friends. The bride appeared !ovely in a gown of yellow georgette with gold color embroidery trimming. She held a beautiful boquet of Ophelia rosebuds rose-buds and lilies of the valley. The bridesmaid, Miss Evelyn Bourne, wore a pretty gown of orchid crepe de chine trimmed in French lace. Ear l Wignall was best man. During Dur-ing the evening a short program, games and social chat were enjoyed, en-joyed, followed by a delicious luncheon. Many pretty and useful wedding gifts were presented the honor guests. The Filipino boys who have been employed by the Springville Canning Can-ning factory for the past several weeks entertained at a party Saturday Sat-urday evening for other employes and their partners. String music and dancing furnished entertainment entertain-ment during the evening; also a tasty lunch was served. A large crowd was in attendance. Mr. and Mrs. J. X. Gardner and Mr. and Mrs. G. S Wood had as their dinner guests at their home Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Lorin- G. Paul. Miss Catherine Fisher, Miss Ethel Paul. Dr. Sam Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Paul, Sr., G. M. P. Doug-all Doug-all and daughter, Misr. Florence Dougall all of Salt Lake City. . Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Oakes and Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Johnson of this city visited friends in Salt Lake over the week end. Complimentary to Mr. and Mrs. Lee Putman and two children of Soldier Summit who have been visiting here. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Oakley entertained at an informal dinner Monday. Mrs. Putman was formerly Miss Bessie Noakcs. Mrs. Tom Garmer of Salt Lake Citv spent last week and this week with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. James Simpkins in this city. Mis. Ann Mendenhall and daughter daugh-ter Florence were guests of Mi. ' and Mrs. Ed Clyde and other rela- j tives here Monday. A pleasant afternoon was spent by the ladies of the Kensington club of the Springville Community church Tuesday when they were entertained at the home of Mrs. A. M. Lyall. Sewing and a short business session were features of the afternoon and a tasty lunch- eon was served by the hostess. Those present were: Mrs. L. M. Gil-lilan, Gil-lilan, Mrs. R. W: Davidson, Mrs. Erie Eorman, Mrs. Nivers. Mrs. Peter Forsyth, Mrs. Minnie Denni-son Denni-son and the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Oakley were guests at dinner Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Will Parry. Fall flowers formed an attractive centerpiece for the dining table around which covers were laid for eight. The ladies of the Missionary Society So-ciety of the Community church will ! hold their next meeting Thursday I afternoon at the home of Mrs. R. W. Davidson.
