Show Not Yet, But Perhaps "With America and Britain one as to disarmament, Mac-Donald Mac-Donald will sail for America, on Sept. 28, the happiest of optimists." Thus chirps a London correspondent. Optimism means bright hopes, and may heaven augment the tribe of optimists. Brother MacDonald cannot arrive too full of optimism to suit us. However, America and Britain will not be one, on anything, until the U. S. congress says so; and, that body, on several occasions, lias grven optimism some decidedly conspicuous black eyes. All of the evils flew out of Pandora's bux .leaving optimism, alone within. It is possible that President Hoover's supreme test will come in his trying to keep congress from turning the box upside down and dumping out happy optimism. |
