Show Letting The Steam Escape Illustrating London's successful way, ordinarily, of dealing deal-ing with "Red" propagandizing, there is the police action at a recent meeting in Hyde Park. Not only did the police quietly listen to cussing of the government in every detail but they used their authority to promote order and a successful suc-cessful meeting. The police idea is that the more steam escaping from the boiler the less steam in the boiler. In one instance, a fellow persisted in interrupting a "soap box" orator, and a policeman dragged him out of the crowd. "I'm an Englishman, born in England," hotly protested the man. "Maybe," replied the officer. "A cat is born a cat but if it has kittens in the oven, they ain't biscuits." And the orator continued his abuse of government at his pleasure. |
