Show FIREMEN OF COUNTY MEET ATJPANISH (Special to The Herald) SPANISH FOIiK, June1 21 With representatives from seven fire departments de-partments of Vtnh and Juab counties coun-ties present, the Fireman's tournament tourna-ment and convention of the Vtah-.luah Vtah-.luah counties' association were hold here Tuesday. The departments depart-ments in the association are Eureka. Ma 10th, Provo, Springville, American Fork, Pleasant Grove and Spnuish Fork. Pratt of American Fork spoke on the question ques-tion of establishing a more ample mortuary fund to take care of the fireman's family and assist in burying bury-ing deceased members. Firemen k?asscmble At 1:30 o'clock the firemen reassembled reas-sembled for tile parade, in which the state officers present were given p'aoes of honor. Only the Provo and Spanish Fork departments had their equipment in the parade. Marching ' froin the city park to music furnished by the Springville hand, to Fourth North street and back lo the park, the firemen tluui went to the rac track, where the-following the-following events took place, with a number of tennis Competing : Fonr-uian Fonr-uian coupling contest. Spanish Fork won; single man coupling contest. Provo won ; truck contest, Spanish Fork won ; baseball game between North and South teams, won by the South; ladder climbing contest, won by American Fork. Hundreds of spectators witnessed the lifesaving and Pomneinu bidt--- dril' at the firemen's tower in the evening, and were thrilled by the work of the Provo and sp.uiisn Fork teams. A water fight staged by the local boys furnished many thrills and considerable excitement. During the early evening the Springville baud gave a fine concert. A dance at the Escalante Gardens closed the event. |
