Show VERONA CLEGG LAIDAT REST Fupneral services were held in the Springville First ward chapel Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Verona Amelia Noakes Clegg, 70 years of age, widow of the lute Is-enl Clegg. who died Thursday evening at the home of her daughter Mrs. Wallace Bird, after a month's illness. ill-ness. Bishop J. B. Bird was in charge. The chapel was packed to its capacity capac-ity and many were unable to get into the building. The flornl offering offer-ing wns large and beautiful. The speakers were President G. R. Mnycoek. Patriaeh O. B. Huntington Hunt-ington and John H. Mamvnring. Musical n umbel's were selections from the Clegg brothers male quartette quar-tette from Vineyard, a vocal duet by Mr. find Mrs. Guy Brown and a vocal solo by Miss Melba Condie. The invocation was by Thomas ! R. Greener and the benediction by M. A. Boyer. Interment was in the City cemetery ceme-tery under the direction' of A. W. Wheeler, undertaker. The grave was dedicated by Wm. Clegg of Vineyard. Mrs. Clegg was born Iu Spriug-1 Spriug-1 ville June 30, 1850, the daughter of Hubbard Noakes and Amelia Childs, who were pioneers of Springville. She has been a prominent promi-nent worker all her life as a citizen citi-zen of the c omiminity and a church worker. Surviving are two sons and five daughters, Eastham Clegg, Lewis Clegg, Mrs. John H. Whiting, Vrs. Earl Condie, Mrs. Wallace Bird, Mrs. Mark Law and Mrs. Lacell Bird also three sisters and"1 three brothers, Mrs. Ara Day of Elmo, Utah; Mrs. John Bryan and Mrs. Alfred Weight of Springville, John Noakes of Eureka ; Dave Noakes of Logan and Will Noakes of Springville. |
