Show WILBUR WILL GIVE EVIDENCE WASHINGTON, Nov. 24 (UP) With Secretary of the Navy Wilbur subpoenaed to furnish the Fal!-Do-heny oil company trial with information infor-mation on the Japanese "war scare'' of I921-22, a predecessor of Wilbur Josephus Daniels, naval secretary secre-tary under President Wilson, appeared ap-peared today to testify for the prosecution pro-secution as to government oil policy before 1921. Owen Roberts, heading prosecution prosecu-tion counsel, opened the third day tf the trial of former Secretary of the Interior Albert B. Fall and Edward Ed-ward L. Doheny, oil magnate, on charges of conspiracy to defraud the government in the Elk Hills naval oil lease, by introducing "ground work'' evidence, including navy documents. Secretary Wilbur will not appear personally as a witness unless he is specifically ordered to do so, he said this morning. Secretary Wilbur said the information infor-mation requested by the subpoena would be sent to the court by special spec-ial messenger. The secretary further fur-ther said that be had no personal knowledge of the information sought by the court, but that he would endeavor en-deavor to furnish all the information informa-tion as far as possible without revealing re-vealing state secrets. |
