Show Dance students, teachers win state awards A large crowd of Springville parents and friends were on hand to watch the State Ballroom Ball-room dance competitions on Thursday of last week,' at Lagoon, La-goon, where1 Springville dancers dan-cers won a good share of the awards. Scoring second place in junior jun-ior ballroom competition were Randy Gould, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Gould, 1401 South Main St., and his partner, Shirley Jacobsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jacobsen, 607 South 2nd East. Emerson and LeGene Lyman, instructors, are also the proud possessors of the 1962 National Nation-al Ballroom Teachers Association Associa-tion trophy presented them at the event. Awards were presented by Jody Elder, NBTA president. All dancers entered in state competition began their ballroom ball-room training under the city recreation program last October. Octo-ber. None had had professional profession-al ballroom training before that time. Teachers are Emerson Emer-son and LeGene Lyman. The Springville recreation program includes summer dance classes beginning this week in junior ballroom, senior ballroom, tap and ballet. Between 70 and 75 dance students entered the contest at Lagoon. |
