A letter from the BYTJ Journal-ism department, stated that theissue of April 19, had been judged, ,b ythe department as having the best front page of any weekly in the state. Judg-ing by advanced students and faculty, was on headlines, makeup, illustrations and type according to modern typo-graphical standards. A reproduction of the page will be seen in the Utah Pub-lisher and Printer this month. Grandson wins appointment to West Point Richard Woodward, a Tor-rance, Calif., senior has been notified of his appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, beginning with the fall term, said word received here this week. Richard is a son of Dean D. and Carol Allan Woodward of Torrance, formerly of Spring-ville and a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn H. Allan, 360 South. 4th East, this city. He reports July 2, for a pre-scho- ol training program'. Born in Provo, he has at-tended Torrance schools since the sixth grade. He is a life member of the California Scho-larship Federation and was se-lected for participation in scho-larship competition during his senior year. Currently serving as student court judge, he has been active in sports and student body af-fairs. In addition to his West Point appointment, he received a full scholarship to BYTJ. He is to be listed in the next edition of "Who's Who of Stu-dent Leaders, High Schools of America," it is reported. Da-vid has been studying music Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dalton and family of St. George will spend the summer at the Dalton home in the absence of their parents and will be with the Dalton's other sons, Jan and Stephen.
