The cost of living climbed to a record high in April for the third consecutive month knocking another penny off the buying power of a $10 bill. Another An-other increase is expected this month. The Labor Department reported re-ported today that its consumer price index rose two-tenths of 1 per cent in "prices of used cars, gasoline, medical care and fresh fruits and vegetables. Government price experts said they expected another jump in the index in May, perhaps per-haps matching the April rise. They said they saw no "serious "ser-ious implications" in the trend from the standpoint of inflation, infla-tion, however. The index now has risen by seven-tenths of 1 per cent since January or more than it climbed during the entire 12 months last year. An estimated one million workers whose wages are tied to the index will get one or two-cent hourly pay increases based on the increase in the cost of living measuring rod.
