Local student wins AGC award at BYU A Springville student, Bob Murdock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Murdock, this week was presented with a $250 scholarship scholar-ship from the Associated General Gen-eral Contractors of America in recognition of his outstanding record as a civil engineer student stu-dent at the BYU. The presentation presenta-tion was made by Harold Whiting, Whit-ing, Springville member of the AGC. A similar award went to the outstanding civil engineer student stu-dent at the University of Utah and the Utah State University. It is the seventh such award made to BYU students and of these, three have gone to Springville high school graduates gradu-ates including before Mr. Murdock, Mur-dock, Douglas Smoot and David Prothero.' Also Jim Cranmer received the award at the Uni-veristy Uni-veristy of Utah four years ago. The award is given at the three schools annually, according accord-ing to President Paul Thorn, now of Orem, to encourage students stu-dents in civil engineering studies stu-dies and to help further their education in engineering. Bob was chosen to receive the award by an AGC committee commit-tee on the basis of his grade point average and school and professional activities in the civil engineering field. |
