George took his basic training at Fort Carson, Colo., after which he was transferred to Fort Knox, Connecticut where he was promoted to tank commander. com-mander. From there he was transferred to Munich where he completed his service in the U. S. Army. George is trie son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cox of Mapleton. " Other visitors at the Cox home during the week included Mr. and Mrs. Verl Farnsworth and family of Roy and Mr. and Mrs. Tex Cox and son of Ogden. Before coming to Utah the George Cox family visited with his brother Jack and family in South Carolina. Jack is with the U. S. Air Force there. Fourteen Mapleton JC's and their wives enjoyed a Sweetheart Sweet-heart banquet at a local cafe Saturday evening. Red and white colors were used for table decorations and reflected a Valentine theme. Each lady was presented a red and white carnation corsage cor-sage and received a lovely cup and saucer gift. A toast was given to the women by Lee Robertson and a toast to the men was given by Mrs. Elaine Harmer. Quen-tin Quen-tin Lowe was master of ceremonies. cere-monies. Three new membership pins were presented to Rodger Hut-chings, Hut-chings, Ned Lee and Floyd Lowe. President of the state Junior Jun-ior Chamber of Commerce and his wife, ifr. and Mrs. Dick Headlee of Bountiful; state vice-president and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Cal Thomas of Spanish Fork, Mayor and Mrs. Douglas Bills of Mapleton and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carneces-ca Carneces-ca were included in the special spe-cial guests. Ned Lee assisted by Paul Dibble and George Leifson and their wives were in .charge of arrangements. Miss Carolyn Joyce Mansell of Houston, Tex. was the honored hon-ored guest at a kitchen shower Friday at the home of Miss a new project to raise funds for the building project. They are selling a low suds detergent deter-gent which has been tested and proven satisfactory. Mrs. Rd Mansell and daughter daugh-ter Carolyn, who are visiting here from Houston, Texas spent Friday at the Ski Lodge at Timp Haven in Provo where they were guests of Mrs. Jean Bullock of Provo. Mrs. S. Lavell Bird is home after spending the past two weeks in Idaho with her husband hus-band who is selling crop insurance in-surance there. The monthly preparation meeting was held Feb. 1 for officers and teachers of the Mapleton ward Primary with Carma Rasmussen conducting. The in service lesson "How we can work together" was given by Ronella Taylor. Hostesses for the evening were Ann Frisby, Beth Larson and Colleen Col-leen Bushnell. The month of March has been designated as budget and maintenance month for the Mapleton Ward. All contributions contribu-tions during the month will be credited to the budget account rather than the building fund. Thursday March 15 has been set apart as the night for a budget banquet.
