Show II HI II In ... i, i,,. f r Aprils Page Two THE SPRINGVILLE (UTAH) HERALD Springville Stake sets stage for 'Promised Valley' planned in July Announcement is made this week of plans by Springville stake MIA to present the mu-- sical play, "Promised Valley," the latter part of July. It is a saga of the trek of the Mormons from Winter Quarters to Great Salt Lake. The music was written by Crawford Gates and the story and lyrics by Arnold Sund-gaar- The production will be one of the most pretentious at-tempted by the MIA and will require a large cast of musi-cians, dancers, and dramatists in addition to stage, scenery, properties, lighting, costumes, makeup and other personnel. Rehearsals will begin Satur-day under the direction of Al-berta Hoover, producer. Speak-ing and chorus people are ask-ed to be at the stake house at 5:30 p.m. Eli Tippetts will direct the drama; Grant Clyde, Tom r, Carolyn Hermansen, Mary Parker, Carolyn Garrett, Francis Holley, music; George Puckett, orchestra; Gloria Sar-gent, Eva Hansen, Maryan Johnson, Kathy McKenzie, Kathy Pabst, Barbara Jessee, Elaine Craig, Marian Rawlston, accompanists; Francis Holley, music librarian. Clarence' L. Jensen will be the business manager for the production; Verl Dallin is stage manager; Blaine Frazier, scen-ery designs and property man-ager; Ronald Jensen, lighting; Sylvia Clyde, costumes; Merle Schreiner, makeup; Emerson and LeGene Lyman, choreo-graphers; Leo Cutler, stage carpenter The cast has not as yet been chosen. Those desiring to assist with the production, taking part or in other capacities, are asked to contact Mrs. Hoover or Mr. Tippetts. Seven minor singing parts for males and four for females are available. Farewell set Sunday for Tom L Alvey Tom L. Alvey, son of Ivan and Juanita Alvey Felix, has accepted a call to the North Central States LDS mission, and will be given a farewell in the First ward Sunday at 7j p.m. He enters the mission home Monday.
