F. A. members and their supervised farming program. Michael Bartholomew, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Bartholomew, Bartholo-mew, has been a member of the FFA for four years. He has held two major offices of Sentinel and President. He became interested in the FFA after moving on a farm in Hobble Creek Canyon when he was about seven. He learned learn-ed of the supervised farming program and education in agriculture ag-riculture that the FFA offers through his brother, Sheldon, who is now the State Vice-president Vice-president in the FFA. At the present time Mike is taking care of four cows and two calves. During the summer sum-mer he runs his fathers farm. Mike was a member of the football team in which he was an outstanding center. He is now a member of the wrestling team in which he has already lettered this year. He is president presi-dent of the high school band. Earlier this year he was one of the three delegates from Utah to play in the National FFA Band in Kansas City; Mo. He has applied for the State Farmer Award. To receive this award the applicant must have $500 productively invested invest-ed or in a savings account. He also has to have outstanding leadership ability. Mike is hoping to receive the Union Pacific scholarship which provides two hundred dollars to any agricultural college. col-lege. After graduating from high school, he plans to go to the Utah State University, where he plans to study agriculture science. |
