Their pictures were ten by Castleton's Modern Art Studio and printed free charge in the Springville Herald for their first birth- - New Cub Scout pack to be organized here According to word received today from the Utah National Parks Council, Boy Scouts of America, plans are underway for the organization of a new Cub Scout Pack in Springville under the sponsorship of the Springville Community church. Organization and parent training meetings are set for the following dates: Tuesday, January 24, "What Cub Scout-ing Is;" Friday January 27, "The Achievement Plan;" Tuesday January 31, "Den and Pack Activity" and final or-ganization and application for a National Charter. These ses-sions are scheduled for 8:00 P.M. each evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otto B. Col-lin-at 170 East Center, Springville. An invitation is extended to boys from 8 through 10 years of age and not now affiliated with the program, to join with this new pack. Parents of all interested boys, are obligated to participate in the three par-ent training sessions. Those interested are requested to no-tify Mrs. Collings prior to the first session. Measom, 344 East f North, local representative O Vlutual of Omaha and TJni-o- f Omaha, has recently jleted the comprehensive insurance course offered at the' National Sales Training School session, in San Francisco, Cali-fornia. Purpose of the course is to provide its representatives with the advantages of profession-al training methods. Mr. Measom was chosen for the National Sales Training School through a selection in-terview analysis. On the ave-rage, only one out of eight ap-plicants is able to pass the rigid entrance requirements. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Maynard and daughter Sally went to Long Beach, Calif., last week to greet their son and brother Lyle when he returned from an LDS mission in Hawaii. On hand to meet the boat were about 16 other relatives and friends. The Maynards visited a few days in the Los Angeles area before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Child are home from an enjoyable vacation trip and visit with their daughters and families in Washington D. C. They were gone about two months and made the trip there by plane and return by jet, taking about four hours and fifteen minutes flying time for the return. They visited with Dr. and Mrs. Paul Eggertsen (Maurine) and family and were on hand to welcome a little new granddaughter born to them early this month and also visited Dr. and Mrs. Dean Packard (Melba) and family. They also took a number of sight-seein- g trips to Gettes-bur- g, Pa., Baltimore, Md., Fort McHenry and other points in and near Washington D. C. They reported some snow and considerable rain during the time of their visit. The D. E. Moss family have moved from Springrville to make their home in Sacramen-to, Calif. Mr. Moss was trans-ferred there several weeks ago and was joined by his family last week. William Dunn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dunn, Spring-ville is among new students enrolled at College of South-ern Utah for winter quarter. He, a freshman, majoring in the division of education. |
