Show Vinter is good time for training course Juveniles who haven't taken the required gun ' safety and survival course will find winter win-ter time a good time to do so in preparation for the hunting season in 1962. Utah law requires all first-time first-time juvenile hunters to show a certificate in evidence of such training before they may purchase their hunting license. Since this law became effective effec-tive two years ago, many juveniles juv-eniles have failed to qualify in time to go afield for their first hunting opportunity after game birds or big game. Some 3,400 adult instructors have been trained and qualified to. teach the required training course, with one or more living in each community of the State. During the three years since the teaching program became effective more than 37,290 juveniles have been qualified to purchase hunting licenses for the first time. Under legislative decree the department of fish and game has carried on this program of instruction with valuable assistance as-sistance from many individuals individ-uals and organizations alike. Spokesmen urged all juveniles juve-niles planning to hunt for the first time in 1962 to take the training course during winter months when outdoor activities are restricted and instructors have more time for teaching. Persons interested in completing com-pleting the course should contact con-tact their local conservation officer or department office for location and time when the courses are scheduled to be given in their area. |
