Show VBBA meet opens here July 24 for three-day championships The District Three tournament of the Western Boys Baseball Association will be held here July 24, 25 and 26 under the direction of Roy H. Bird. The Pony area tournament runs for three days beginning July 26 Hardly before the WBBA tournament ends here on the 26th, the Pony League will open its area tourney play, scheduled to start on the 26th of July opening game on the 24th will begin at 3:30 p.m. with Mill Creek all-stars playing the Hobble Creek all-stars. ; Second game of the first day's play will pit Sage Creek against Mapleton at 5:30. In honor of the players of the all-star teams competing in the tournament, the VFW i Post and Auxiliary will give i a hamburger fry for the boys ! and team coaches and mana- gers Friday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fireplace on the j southeast corner of Memorial park. In charge for the Aux- iliary are committeemen Lela I Averett, Jane Averett, and ! Rowene Bird. i All players eligible to par- ticipate in the hamburger fry are asked to wear this year's all-star hats as a meal ticket to the fry. This playoff will be a double elimination, four-team tourney with the winner to go on into Blackfoot, Idaho. First day's pairings will pit Springville's all-star team against the Provo Wasatch .team in the early game and Payson vs Provo Timps in the last game. Floyd Graves is in charge of the tournament with other league officials assisting. The all-star Springville team is planning a practice game for Saturday night, July 22 with the Spanish Fork all-stars all-stars as a warm-up for tournament tourna-ment play.
