Show The Sports Line Tributaries to Scofield Reservoir Reser-voir will remain closed to angling ang-ling until the opening of the 1961 season, according to the department of fish and game. These include Fish Creek, Gooseberry C C Pond, Bench Pond and all other waters flowing into the reservoir. All were chemically treated to remove re-move trash fish populations in the fall of 1958, restocked a year ago, and- closed to fishing during the 1959 season. The waters were closed to angling just prior to the opening open-ing of the 1960 angling season when investigations showed a good population of natice cutthroat cut-throat "trout had survived but were still too small to provide desired creel returns. ,s Decision to keep these waters wa-ters closed during the current season while the fish mature to more desirable size was recently made when further investigation in-vestigation proved the earlier survey correct. Under Utah Board of Big Game Control ruling deer hunters hunt-ers will be allowed only one special permit during the 1960 seasons. This may be either a one or two-deer special permit, per-mit, but is a departure from the rule of past seasons when the Board allowed two special permits per hunter. jtsoara spojtesmen noiea, however, that the multiple unit antlerless deer permits are not considered "special," with this type permit being allowed this year for Manti, Minnie Maud, Nebo hunting units and south end of the Book Cliff unit. Thus, a hunter could obtain two additional permits if he so chose by purchasing both a special and multiple unit permit. per-mit. The spokesman noted, also, al-so, that archery deer permits for the season of Sept. 3-18 are not counted as special permits. Red, and only , red, clothing is legally required to be worn during the 1960 big game hunts in Utah. Only exception : is the archery deer season I when only the red head cover-I cover-I ing is required. " Utah's two remaining game I preserves were recently abol-I abol-I ished by action of the Board of Big Game Control. They were the Salt Lake and Monas-I Monas-I tery preserves. , I The move followed a pattern I of the past several years when I all other game preserves over I the state had beea abandoned to allow free access to hunting . and other recreational pursuits I in these areas which were ori-I ori-I ginally set up many years ago I to protect game species. I The action followed department depart-ment of fish and game recom-. recom-. meridation that the preserves I no longer serve any useful pur-I pur-I pose in game management. I During the special archery I season only bow and arrow 1 hunting is permitted, with tackle requirements this year being the same as during the I 1959 hunt. I Archery permits may be pur-I pur-I chased beginning Aug. 15, at 1 department of fish and game offices in Salt Lake City and regional offices in Ogden, I Provo, Price and Cedar City. I To avoid the wrinkled top I that forms on cornstarch-type puddings, sprinkle a little sug- I ar over the surface after cook- I ing is completed and pudding has been pOured into serving I dish or dishes. Be sure to do I this before the pudding cools. The most agreeable thing in I life is worthy accomplishment. |
