Show 4-H club has canyon party The Clever Cooks 4-H club gave a special party at Kellys Grove one afternoon last week. The time was spent with Softball and other games followed fol-lowed by lunch. The girls are learning to make bisquits and muffins. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Boyer have returned from an enjoyable enjoy-able vacation trip to California. Califor-nia. They spent four days with their daughter and husband, DeWayne and Pauline Doni-thorne Doni-thorne and two children and were there to see their 8-year-old grandson Dermis Doni-thorne Doni-thorne baptized. Later they made a trip to the coast and toured Yosemite National Park and other points of interest. Mrs. Alice Wilmott returned Friday of last" week, from a month's vacation in Hawaii. She went in company with a niece, Joyce Vincent of Spanish Span-ish Fork. They visited friends in Honolulu and then went by jet plane to the 555-mile-square, island of Kauai, where they visited a sister and niece, Mrs. Rosalie V. Simao, formerly former-ly of Spanish Fork and her husband Edgar and two chil-dres. chil-dres. During their stay, they were extensively entertained with visits to sugar, riceand pineapple plantations and factories. fac-tories. They fished from the beach and hunted wild pigs and mountain goat in the thick vegetation of the isle. They also gathered bananas in the back yard of the Simao home. They were especially impressed with a 3-mile ride on the river Wailua to the fern grotto where ferns grow wild and the Bird of Paradise were in bloom. L y 1 e Maynard of Springville and Kent Hansen of Benjamin missionaries on the island visited the Simao home while they were there and were guests at dinner. They send greetings to their folks and trends here, stating they are enjoying their work. Mrs. Wlmott and Miss Vncent made the trip to and from the islands by jet plane. Capt. and Mrs. Jay Harmer (Carol Friel) asd little daughter daugh-ter arrived in Utah Sunday from Fort Bragg, No. Carolina where he has been stationed at a dentist in the government hospital. He has now been transferred , to Lowry Air Force Base, Danver, Colo. In Springville, they are guests of Carol's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Friel and have also been visiting in Payson with Jay's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harmer. Jay and his father and mother will leave Friday for Los Angeles to see the new baby son born Monday to Vernor and Jean Harmer Greener. |
