Show Strike i Frwi Wpio-ht who was work- ing at the Evergreen Cemetery Ceme-tery last Saturday morning, narrowly escaped being struck down by lightening when he found himself trapped trap-ped in the short, but powerful power-ful electrical storm. Mr. Weght had been working work-ing near the large cedar tree and had just moved back to change the water when the lightning bolt struck the tree. The tree was literally shattered to toothpick proportions. pro-portions. It ysent one large splinter about 12 ft. long however nearly 100 feet from the point of contact. The force and impact knocked Mr. Weight to the ground and tree splinters were scattered scat-tered everywhere, some lodging lodg-ing in the surrounding trees. The blast also broke the cement ce-ment bases of two small headstones lying about five feet from the tree trunk. A basket of flowers beside one headstone was sliced in two, container and all. |
