Show h 27, 1958 THE SPRINGVILLE (UTAH) HERALD Page Three A significantly large major-ity of Utah workers going back ' to work are finding jobs in construction. of year, so closely is the labor 'market tied to weather. Although trailing a year ago, labor demand continues to hold at about 500 job offers per week. Unemployment on Recline, Report Last week most areas in Utah saw seasonal declines in unemplayment Exceptions were Salt Lake, Tooele and Vernal. However, increases in these three areas were sufficient to offset job gains in other parts of the State with the result the jobless ratio moved from 7.0 per thousand for the week of March 8, to 7.2 per thou-sand without work for the cur-rent week. It should be pointed out that labor market statistics are al-ways a bit erratic at this time irockside School L This Week ,V uvielit and Raymond LeRoy's room reports sldaMaeDansie has had kat We have been stories ' with Mr. IS ue writes us a story him an ans- - dl write we we draw picutres 'Citrate our stories like this kind of story writing very well. Last week Mrs. Gordon John-son, "Utahna's mothei came to school and entertained us with Irish tunes. She played several tunes on the saxophone. Mrs. Charles Measom, Saundra Bak-er's grandmother, came and told us stories. Then on Wed-nesday we all went down to the library where Miss Mattie Davis read us a story about Easter and the Easter bunny. Miss Mickye Froneberger came to our school on Mon-day this week and will be with us for the next five weeks as an all-da- y training teacher in Mr. Poulson's fourth grade. Miss Froneberger is living at 695 South Main Street. The fifth grade has been working on story telling. All the students tried to make a set of rules. This set as written up by Margie Loftin should be a good set of rules for anyone to keep in mind when a good story is to be told: Choose an interesting' story; know your story well; get an interesting beginning; speak loudly and distinctly; tell only details which are needed for ' the progress of the story; tell the parts of the story in pro- - Ioer sequence; put the "punch at the end or near the end; use good vocal expression; face your audience; use pro-per gestures; use a vocabulary understandable by the audi-ence; move about only as movement, gives meaning to the story; be sure the audience I hears the closing line. An AP dispatch quotes him as saying: "I'd throw all of the fringe courses out of our schools. For instance, in one Illinois school system they have a course in how to know if you're in love. In another school they have a course in rest you get credits for rest-ing. And in Florida they have a course in fly casting." |
