I Section 6. Section Amended. 1 Section 577 of chapter XXIV of the Re-1 vised Ordinances of Springville, Utah, 1949, is amended to read: I Section 577. Muffler Required on Motor Vehicles Escape of Fumes and Smoke. (a) 1 No person shall operate a motor vehicle within the limits of this city unless such vehicle is equipped with a muffler in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive 1 or unusual noise and annoying smoke, and no person shall use a muffler cutout, by-pass, or similar device upon a motor vehicle within the limits of this city. Said muffler shall be at least as effective in the reduction of exhaust noises of the vehicle motor as the type of muff- ler furnished by the manufacturer of said ve- hide as standard equipment for purposes of the first sale at retail of vehicles of the same class. 5 (b) No person shall operate a motor ve- hide within the limits of this city unless the S engine and power mechanism is so equipped and adjusted as to prevent the escape of ex- jj cessive fumes or smoke. s Section 7. Violation Misdemeanor. s Any person doing any act forbidden or failing to perform any act required in this or- dinance shall be deemed guilty of a misde- meanor. 0 Section 8. In the opinion of the city coun- j cil it is necessary for the immediate preserva- tion of the peace, health and safety of the in- habitants of Springville that this ordinance be- come effective immediately. Section 9. Effective Date. jj This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publication.
