Binlrs j Phone HUnter week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Taylor. Mrs. Norma Marzialle of New Jersey is spending sev-eral days at the home of her parents, Mr. and' Mrs. Reed Larsen. She came here espec-ially to be with her mother who is ill. Mrs. Elmer Larson has been elected president of the Maple-ton Lady Lions. She will re-place Mrs. Wm. McKinnon who has moved to California to make her home. Club members presented Mrs. McKinnon with a gift prior to her leaving. Selected to work with Mrs. Larson are Mrs. Reid Hales, Mr. and Mrs. Verl Taylor (Roslyn) of Burbank, Califor-nia spent Saturday and Sun-day at the home of her par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hall. They came especially to see Mrs. Hall who is recovering from a recent operation at the Utah Valley Hospital. Mrs. Gladys Johnson was hostess to the Rio Grande La-dies Auxiliary No. 8 at her home Wednesday evening. Re-freshments were served to six-teen members who had enjoyed an evening of whist. Mrs. Ralph Gren assisted the hos-tess. Sunday visitors at the Condie Crandall home were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gayler of Salt Lake City. Miss Martha Taylor who has been employed in Los Angales for several months spent the Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Burt of Logan. Rod-ney and his wife also visited at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Burt. Mrs. Wm. Whiting accom-panied by her mother, Mrs. John Evans of Delta attended the David Turner family re-union Saturday in Washington, Utah. From there they motored to California, where they visit-ed Milo Johnson and his fam-ily at Needles, Mr. and Mrs. Ned Whiting at La Puente and Mrs. Verla Wilberg at San Diego. first vice president; Mrs. Ar-thur Harmer, second vice pres-ident; Mrs. Hugh Hjorth, secret-ary- treasurer; Mrs. Willis Harmer and Mrs. Arthur Har-mer, gift committee. At this meeting it was de-cided to sponsor .a food sale on election day in November as a fund raising project, the proceeds of which will be used to add books to the school li-brary. In charge of this com-mittee are Mrs. Jack Canto and. Mrs. Sylvester Allan. All club members plan to paint and clean their club room this week in Memorial Hall. Mrs. John Busk of Elsinore is spending several weeks at the home of her daughter and son-in-la- Mr. and Mrs. Wal-do- n Hurst. She spent last week in Salt Lake City visiting with another daughter. Week end visitors at the Hurst home were Mr. and Mrs. Wally Larson (Colleen) and their three children of Salt Mr. and Mrs. Martie Larson have returned to their home in St. George- - after spending a week at the home of their son Elmer Larson and family. Kay Harmer is visiting at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harmer for several days. He has been sta-tioned at Ft. Bragg in S(orth Carolina with the TJ. S. Army and was given leave to attend the LDS general conference in Salt Lake City. He entered the service in January of last year, completing his basic training at Fort Ord, Calif. Kent Burt is home after completing six months with the XJ. S. Army. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Burt. Cal Johnson has returned from a business trip for Inter-antion- al Harvester Company to San Francisco where he spent four days. Part of their busi-ness included a tour to the Richmond Depot. He made the trip by plane both ways. Dr. R. H. Nightingale was the guest speaker at the Jay-ce- e Wives meeting Monday night at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Revoir. His topic was, "How to Keep Husbands Liv-ing Longer." A business meeting was con-ducted by president Mrs. Paul Jensen after which refresh-ments were served to seventeen members by color captain Mrs. Joseph Carnesecca, assisted by Mrs. Earl Freeman, Mrs. John-ny Bleggi, Mrs. Neno Antoneno and the hostess. Recent visitors at the Con-di- e Crandall home have been Mrs. Delbert Broadhead and Mrs. Violet McDonald of Du-chesne. Also her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Mickelson who attended the UEA sessions in Salt Lake City. Mother of Local Woman Dies at 63 A number of Springville re-latives and friends were in Ice-land Sunday to attend funeral services for Mrs. Eleanor Jane Larsen Davis, 63, mother of Mrs. Merrill (Blanche) Nielson of this city who died Thursday noon of a heart attack. She was a well-know- n ac-companist for her ward and other groups and was promi-nent in church activity. She leaves her husband, Earl H. Davis and five sons and daugh-ters, also eleven grandchildren and a sister and six brothers. A ' : .W i: 1 i J ? " HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Steven Holt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Holt of Tooele, who claim Springville as home, and to Laurie Snow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Snow, 569 East Center. Steven will be one year old on Friday October 17, and Laurie celebrated her first birthday Monday of this week. The pictures are taken free of charge at Modern Art.. Studio or at Snelson's and are put in the Springville Herald free on the week of the children's first birthday. Reserva-tions with the Studios for pictures should be made a week before the birthdays. Mapleton Nurse With U.S. Service Fort Sam Houston, Texas, (AHTNC) Army Nurse (2nd Lt.) La Rue S. Steele, daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Stone of . Mapleton, recently completed a military orienta-tion course for medical service officers at Brooke Army Medical Cen-ter, Fort Sam Houston, Tex. Lieutenant Steele formerly worked at Providence Hospi-tal in Seattle, Wash. She was graduated from Springville high school in 1948 and from Seattle University in 1958. OF UTAH Dairy Association Plans Expansion Utah county activities of the American Dairy Association will be expanded as a result of the appointment this week of a full-tim- e manager of the ADA of Utah, Welby W. Young, president, said Wednesday. Harold L. Peterson, Salt Lake City dairy executive, suc-ceeds A. J. Morris, Logan, who is' retiring after serving in the position for 14 years. Mr. Mor-ris is head of the Department of Dairy Industry, Utah State University. He will continue on the ADA's board of directors as Utah State University's re-presentative. Chairman of ADA of Utah activities in Utah county is Don T. Allen of Vineyard.
