Show Church College Dedicated Dec. 17 The new multi-million dollar Church College of Hawaii at Laie was dedicated Wednesday, Wed-nesday, Dec. 17, by David O. McKay, 85 year-old president and prophet of the LDS Church. Twenty gleaming new buildings build-ings of modern design comprise com-prise the campus, located on a 100-acre site near the famed LDS Temple at Laie. Three years in construction, the college col-lege is the. product of the unique uni-que "labor missionary" plan of the church. Members of the church in Hawaii contribute to the sustenance sus-tenance of the "labor missionaries." mission-aries." A total of 530,038 hours of work with an estimated cash value of $944,360 has been contributed to the school. Wendell B. Mendenhall of Salt Lake City, formerly of Mapleton has . supervised the project. He is chairman of the church building committee and Pacific Board of Education. Joseph Jo-seph E. Wilson is supervisor of construction. |
