Church Ladies Outline Program The program for the year's meeting was outlined by ladies of the Kensington Society-La- dies Aid at the first meet-ing of the new year at the home 6f Mrs. Harry Hulce with Mrs. Harry Cutshall, co- - hostess. The group plans to sponsor more social events, couple's en-tertainments and other activity to raise funds for the church. They also talked over plans for serving refreshments at the congressional meeting of the church on Thursday evening, jjanuary '16, beginning at 7 p.m. The full membership of the church is expected at this 'meeting as annual reports are Imade and new appointments announced. Next meeting of the group will be on February 13, at the 'home of Mrs. John Wightsil in Spanish Fork. Gray of Orem, is announced this week. Janet Soderlund Engagement to H. L. Gray Announced This Week Miss Janet Soderlund, petite blond daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Soderlund of this city, accepted an engagement ring at Christmas time from Howard R. Gray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis L. Gray of Orem. No definite date for the marriage has been set but plans are being made for a summer wedding. Janet is a senior at the high school, where she is ac-tive in the Pep Club and the Steno Club and graduated from LDS Seminary last spring. June Wedding Plans Being Made By Ruth Ann Boyer, L R. Randall Wedding bells will ring in June for charming Miss Ruth Ann Boyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur C. Boyer of this city, who plans to be married to Leon Ralph Randall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herald of Ogden. . The bride-ele- ct graduated from LDS Seminary and the Springville high school with honors and attended the Brig-ha-m Young University two years before going to San Fran-cisco, Calif., where she is employed in the Bank of America. She also takes prominent part in the San Francisco LDS ward activities. Mr. Randall graduated from LDS Seminary and Ogden high school and attended Weber College. He filled an LDS mission in the North Western States and is presently serv-ing in the armed forces at Davis,' Calif. He is a nephew of the A. LeRoy Tingeys of Springville. m Mr. and Mrs. Ned T. Childs of Vernal have spent several ' days this week in Springville, ; the house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Best. Pictures of Tahiti Shown at Club Tom Stone of Berkeley, Cali-fornia, a student at the BYU entertained the members of the Home Culture Club with color-ed slides of Tahiti, when they met Friday afternoon of last week with Mrs. Harrison Con-ove- r. Mr. Stone recently filled an LDS mission in the islands and' his pictures told a story of the people, their customs and means by which they make a living and were enjoyed by everyone present. Mrs. Leonard Harward, presi-dent, was in charge of the meeting. Mrs. Harold Christen-se- n read the club collect with piano accompaniment by Mrs. Maurice Bird. Mrs. E. F. Per-ha- m told of the life of Mary Stewart, author of the collect. The meeting was concluded with luncheon served by the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Thales Brown and family visited relatives and friends in Springville and Mapleton the past week, com-ing from Parowan especially for the funeral services of Mrs. Brown's father, James Wiscombe, held last Thursday at Mapleton. Also home for the services were grandsons, Raymond Hooper, who came from Fort Bragg, N. C. and Richard Wiscombe from Camp Pendleton, Calif. t Les Jolli Femme Club Group Elects Mrs. Jerry Duncan was elec-ted president of the Les Jolli Femme club at a meeting held on Thursday evening at the heme of Mrs. Elaine Childs. The new leaders succeed Mrs. Elaine Childs who was presi-dent; Mrs. Joyce Diamond and Mrs. Gloria Murdock, nt and secretary res-pectively. The girls enjoyed visiting and light refreshments served by the hostess. LCB Club Elects New Officers LCB Club members elected new officers for the year at the meeting on Thursday even-ing of last week, at the home of Mrs. Floyd Childs. Mrs. David Miner is the new president; Mrs. Gary Rasmus--I sen, secretary and Mrs. Gerald Olsen. historian and renorter. Table games and refresh-ments were enjoyed by the group and prizes went to: Mrs. Fred Childs, Mrs. Gary Boyack, Mrs. Richard Beck, Mrs. Clyde Mortensen, Mrs. Marlin Giles and Mrs. Blaine Wood. Next party will be on Janu-ary 23, at the home of Mrs. Richard Beck. Figures Figure Statistics show that 15 million U. S. women are overweight. They do not specify where they live but tMidwestern bus seats are designed two inches wider than those in the East! Spanish Fork, returned home recently from a ten-da- vaca-tion trip to California. They visited relatives at Torrence and toured Disneyland and other points of interest in the area. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Ewing and two children in company with Mrs. Ewing's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fletcher of Mrs. Ellen Crandaii enjoyed a visit from her daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Owen B. Wright of St. George, who spent a week with Mrs. Cran-daii and also " with Mrs. Wright's brother Gregg Cran-daii and family. Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Stubbs have returned to their home in Garden Grove, Calif., after spending the holidays in Springville with Richard's mother, Mrs. Dean Stewart and other relatives and friends here. Glen Weight came from his service post in Texas to spend the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Weight and other relatives and friends. He expects to receive his dis-charge in the summer and to continue his schooling at the USU at Logan. |
